Seriously Jough, leaving us hanging for six months is very uncool. If commitments are preventing you from working on the webpage, at least post the list of results. I promise I will still visit your webpage if/when you ever get around to finishing it.

Okay, so I took the lists from Home Theater Forum and DVD Talk (don't have access to the video store lists). I did not put in anyone's list who did not put them in order. If you just listed titles, I didn't add it into my spreadsheet. For TV shows I followed Jough's rules. If you didn't put a season I counted season 1. I gave five points to number 1, four points to number 2, etc. and totaled them. If you put:

1. Band of Brothers.
2. Buffy (seasons 1-7)
3. Monty Python complete set
4. Arrested Development
5. Sports Night.

Then only votes 1 and 2 counted. I gave 5 points to Band of Brothers, 4 points to Buffy Season 1, 3 points to Buffy season 2, 2 points to buffy season 3, 1 point to buffy season 4, and that was it. If you put

1. Simpsons (Season sets)
2. Band of Brothers
3. Monty Python complete set
4. Arrested Development
5. Sports Night.

Then I gave five points to Simpsons Season 1, four to band of Brothers, three to Monty, etc. Basically, quite a few people didn't follow instructions on this (on either site), so I wouldn't count these results as particularly accurate, but perhaps my posting will inspire Jough to post the official results.

Here are the top 25
1 Band of Brothers
2 Seinfeld Gift Set
3 Freaks & Geeks: Yearbook edition
4 Simpson Season 4
5 Simpsons Season 1
6 The Twilight Zone - Season 1 - Definitive
7 Family Guy Volume 1
8 Twin Peaks - Season 1
9 Futurama Volume 1
10 Simpsons Season 5
11 Monty Python Complete Set
12 Sopranos Season 1
13 Arrested Developement Season 1
14 24 Season 1
15 Looney Tunes Gold Collection 1
16 The Office Complete Series
17 Alias – Season 2
18 Firefly - Complete Series
19 Six Feet Under Season 1
20 The Jamie Kennedy Experiment
21 X-Files Season 1
22 Mr. Show season 1
23 Alias Season 1
24 Babylon 5 Season 1
25 The Dick Van Dyke Show

"If you just listed titles, I didn't add it into my spreadsheet."

You're ripping these people off in my opinion. The first title listed would be their #1, the last title listed would be their #10. Pretty easy to figure out if you ask me.
Don't mean to look a gift-horse in the mouth though... thanks for the list.
Also, what's up with Contact being on the list?!? That's gotta be a typo.

Several of these people said titles listed alphabetically, heck there's even one on this page that specifcally says that; so if they chose not to list them in order, then I wasn't going to pick for them, sorry. I know some folks list it in their order and just didn't number them, but when I sorting it was far easier to set up excel to just calculate totals with the folks that had put numbers.

These lists aren't even close to official because I left those folks out, don't have the video store lists, and didn't check to see if people had posted on both sites. Ideally it would just inspire the official lists to be posted and give us something to ponder while we wait.

Edited to add: I checked on Contact (seemed odd to me as well) and indeed it was a typo of sorts. It should have been Cosmos, brainfart as I typed I guess. Took that moment to look over the rest of the list and be sure it was correct, all other titles listed are indeed correct.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate!

One thing I noticed was that Band of Brothers (movie #30) and Freeks and Geeks (#95) get counted twice as they are on both lists. While excellent, I think it should count as TV leaving another spot for a true film. The initial criteria listed has mini-series in with TV.

Thanks again.

Yeah, while trying to do it as quickly as possible I also tried to keep most of Jough's rules including that you could vote for TV shows in the top 100 list as well as on the main list so I kept Band of Brothers in there.

Fine then. How many votes did it take to make it into the top 100 films?

Technically one person voting for a movie in their number 1 spot would have done it. Number 100 has 10 ten points, not counting the folks who didn't number thier choices. I also didn't count the one adult title as Jough mentioned he didn't (it was naughty stewardesses in case anyone is wondering).

This doesn't make sense. Why have a separate TV list then? I think TV should remain separate. I also think seasons should be grouped and just the show listed, like what was done with LOTR in the film list. Do we need the Simpsons taking three slots in the top ten?

ps. Can you confirm #94 is Fiend without a Face and not Eyes without a Face (which seems more likely)?

Fiend is correct .... and dude, not my rules, but Jough did repeatedly say TV shows could be in your top ten as well as on the separate tv only list and that he was only doing season sets so pick which season not the whole show. (Incidentally I noticed you didn't even vote as you weren't a member yet, so maybe next year) Sorry.

That's what I figured. So, with a small sample naturally there is more credibility with the top of the list than the bottom. Some guy voted Fiend without a Face #2 all-time (same guy voted I Drink Your Blood #1 all-time). So, unfortunately, with this size sample outliers rule.

I was surprised at Moulin Rouge's pretty strong showing #33 (I saw vote ranks of 9,6,4,2,4,7) so obviously several people felt strongly about the merits of that film/extras. Perhaps I should take a look at the extras and see what all the fuss is about ...

As do I. The 2004 list really helped me figure out gaps in my collection.
