K

Be careful buying Don Juan Demarco in the keepcase, it says it's 16x9, but I just bought it yesterday and it's not. It's still a 4x3 letterbox transfer. And it's a damn shame too, as it's wonderful movie that I'd love to have a good transfer of. Now I have to try to get Best Buy to understand why I want to return it.

I bought that in 1999 or so, and I still own the same one it's in a keepcase. Not sure where you saw it in a snapper case, but Buena Vista to my knowledge has never released their dvd's in snapper cases. Warner, New Line, Image Entertainment are the usual suspects.

Damn. That list on the first page is really inaccurate.

soop 04-17-06 12:48 PM

This thread should either be cleaned up or shut down... the list on page one has a lot of bad information in it.

joliom 04-17-06 03:05 PM

Agreed. That's why I requested an update last June.

basaro 04-17-06 03:15 PM

I agree, clean up this thread!

What's up with the OP? What's the point of starting a thread if you're not going to update it? Looks like he only made one edit, the day after the thread was started, over a year ago. :wtf:

digitalfreaknyc 04-17-06 03:24 PM

Can't we just start another one of our own?

joliom 04-18-06 03:50 PM

I think that's warranted at this point. Anyone want to volunteer to be the custodian?

I have no problem doing it. We just need an ACCURATE list this time.

I just emailed Dead.

I think the new list should not necessarily list every new WB and New Line title that are all in keepcases now, and also seperate the discs that are simply repackaging of the original disc from those that are special edition releases. I actually think someone else started a list that did just that.

It would be a list of which titles are re-released in the same edition as a keepcase instead of a snapper. I wouldn't put titles like The Lost Boys or Batman on there.

AvaDoodle 04-19-06 09:31 AM

Is anyone aware if Training Day is in a keep case or is still in a snapper?

I agree. There's no point listing all the ones that got upgraded to a new edition. If you're too stupid to tell the difference between the original 1997 Batman single-disc edition and the new 2-Disc SE, then there's no helping you anyway. Stick with stuff that merely got repackaged to keepcases, with or without new artwork, individually or as part of a box set. Oh and it might be wise to add a disclaimer about the Blockbuster and Hollywood Video exclusive WB keepcase releases, since that seems to confuse a lot of people too.

Btw, can we see about getting this potential new thread (or runnersdialzero's one if it can be updated to everyone's satisfaction) made into a sticky in the Covers & Cases forum? This topic seems to inspire a lot of individual threads...

I've been given the go-ahead to make a new thread.

Christmas Vacation is now in a keep case

joliom 11-05-06 06:15 PM

Has anyone seen any of the other Vacation movies in keepcases? Those are four snappers I'd love to retire.

Cameron 11-06-06 01:26 AM

i know they double featured the the first two movies in a keep case, so i have a feeling you won't see upgrades of individual titles. I would think that Christmas Vacation is the best seller of the series, due to the holiday season alone, and was reason enough to upgrade it with this years pressings. I'd love to see a re-release of the box set in thin packs
