Ishtar on DVD?

A PAL version of Ishtar was realeased in September in Europe.

Any news of a Region 1 DVD coming any time soon?

This is not a joke.

Ishtar is one of my favorite movies.

Seriously!

I think it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Just thinking about the (deliberately) awful songs cracks me up.

"Telling the truth can be dangerous business ... "

Come on, sing it with me!

Go to Amazon.com and add your email to the list of people waiting for "Ishtar" on DVD.

Let's start a groundswell of popuplar demand!

Bumping this thread to see if anybody knows about an Ishtar DVD release coming anytime soon.

I really love this movie. I own it on VHS, but I'd sure love a good DVD copy.

Looks like not many others share my enthusiasm though. :(

Wasn't that movie the Gigli (or whatever that Bennifer movie was called) of the 80s?

Yes, it is widely regarded as "one of the worst movies ever made."

However, that is a very unfair reputation, based primarily on the fact that the movie went horribly over budget and movie critics expected much bigger things from two big stars like Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty.

Forget about the crap and just watch the movie, it's damn funny!

It's just a dumb buddy comedy like the old Bob Hope & Bing Crosby "road" movies, nothing more complicated than that.

I swear, if more people watched it with an open mind and forgot that they were watching "two big stars" and that this was supposed to be the "worst movie of all time" they would really enjoy it.

There's no way in hell this is "one of the worst movies ever made."

Most of the critics back then reviewed the out-of-control budget, the troubled production, and the high-profile pairing of Hoffman & Beatty.

It sure isn't a great movie, but there's a solid handful of chuckles in there, and lots of the songs are hysterical.

Charles Grodin and Isabelle Adjani are both quite good in supporting roles, as well.

I love this movie too. When I first saw it on video I didn't have high expectations, but I laghed my ass off. I agree with the posts above: the critics didn't like the budget. I recall reading review after review and all they talked about what how much the movie cost.

I'd buy a copy in a heartbeat.

There was talk of a special edition, but the studio apparently nixed it. See the first couple paragraphs in this link.
