Toss out that stinky old Blu-Ray player...

Pioneer's UV-Ray (?) is on the way

Randy Miller III 01-06-05 06:58 PM

Geez. Just in case the upcoming format war wasn't confusing enough... ;)

Case01 01-06-05 07:09 PM

I think this is the last we'll here of this for a long while if ever.

TomOpus 01-06-05 08:18 PM

I'm holding out for the ExtremeRay player :D

Snowmaker 01-06-05 08:23 PM

Does that mean you'd need to wear sunblock to watch a movie?

Norm de Plume 01-06-05 08:33 PM

Please don't tell me any of you are thinking of re-buying movies you already have on DVD once this new format(s) is implemented.

No, everytime you watch a movie you have to coat the disc with sunscreen so the uv-rays don't burn the disc. Coppertone 16 should suffice, yet some nervous folk will no doubt go for the 45.

Actually, I've stopped buying DVDs (and HD-DVDs or Blu-Ray discs) in anticipation of the future format.

cultshock 01-06-05 09:49 PM

I'm not buying any more disc formats. I'm waiting until the techology comes along that can transmit movies directly into my brain.

Gizmo 01-06-05 09:56 PM

I don't see HD-DVDs or Blu-Ray replacing DVD anytime soon. DVD will remain THE format for atleast 5 more years.

Heck! Give us a X-Ray player!

I'm gonna get a lead lined vest/armor just to get ready...

shawagg 01-07-05 01:32 AM

This doesn't mean anything. It's just them reserching a new format, for all we know this might just end up in something comleatly separete from consumer video or even data storage for that matter.

An X-Ray player?

I'm so there! First movies I'll be putting in that player are chick flicks, anything with Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow and my No Doubt (for Gwen Stefani) dvds!!

speedyray 01-07-05 08:11 AM

I read about this a while ago. It was said that there were no immediate plans for the technology but it would most likely be used for wholesale data backup in big enterprises.

Please.

I'm already thinking of rebuying the Blu-Ray movies I haven't bought yet.

CoolKidd 01-07-05 09:04 AM

Another format! WTF? I think they are just milking us for money!

I hate to see me own a Blu Ray Player, HD DVD Player, and a UV Ray Player (which I think I would :-(

I hope that none of the movies will come out with 3 versions of there films... cause that would really pissed me off!

KJB2 01-07-05 09:07 AM

Well, I'm waiting for the Famous Original Ray player.

mr_jbloggs 01-07-05 09:37 AM

I will now hold out until they use, Electrodes attached to my head, to watch a movie and no TV needed. But I expect the Electrodes to be Bluetooth enabled so that I can go get a beer from the fridge and not miss a scene. :D

stinkeye 01-07-05 09:52 AM
