Is "Sex & Lucia" out of print?

Looking for the Sex & Lucia:unrated DVD the other day, and I noticed Amazon didn't seem to have it - with users demanding $79.99 for it!?!

So I looked at a price search, saying deepdiscountdvd had it for about ten bucks... only you get a "not in stock" when you add it to the cart.

Is the DVD out of print?

suncoast has it or can order it...20 bucks though

PopcornTreeCt 01-03-05 02:04 AM

my local Best Buy has many copies.

Perkinsun Dzees 01-03-05 03:17 AM

Both versions (rated and unrated) are OOP

If you have a local Video Hut, try them; that's where I got mine for $8.99.

On eBay they are going for only a little more than $10.

Me.... While there may still be a good supply out there on the street, TriMark announced these as discontinued in September/October of 2004.

Not related to the topic ....BUT....if you are planning to track this film down do so ASAP. The Palm Pictures version IS THE BEST one on the market (for English speakers) with some of the most beautiful menus on a R1 disc I have seen (they remind me of the R4 Betty Blue disc).

Highly, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I was at Best Buy last Saturday with this DVD in one hand and a gift card in the other. I decided not to use my gift card but now I think I'll go back and snag it.

what is the Palm Pictures version? i have the unrated Lions Gate..is that the same company? thanks.

shawagg 01-03-05 06:44 PM

DDD has the Palm version listed as FS and barebones. Is that true?

Also what's the price at BB?

pro-bassoonist 01-03-05 07:37 PM

it is the same version...Palm Pictures bought the rights for the film under the Lions Gate umbrella. So, let me say it again....if you are on the market for this film....HURRY!!

See for yourself...

Last but not least there is no P/S R1 version...only rated R (AVOID!!!!!!) and the European "unrated" version (A MUST).

...And if you are in the mood to explore even more of the flavor Sex & Lucia had to offer track down Son De Mar (dir.by Bigas Luna). Pure European erotica with the intelligent touch of one of Spain's best directors nowadays (The Ages of Lulu; Jamon Jamon; The Chambermaid on the Titanic, etc).

Bah, it says that it isn't in stock on DDD anymore.

Cameron 01-03-05 08:24 PM

good to know

PopcornTreeCt 01-03-05 08:36 PM

I got mine from DDD and it was in widescreen and unrated.

Josh-da-man 01-03-05 08:52 PM

So why are they letting this slip out of print now? I would think that, with Paz Vega getting a lot of ink for her role in Spanglish, that they would want to keep it available, and even promote it.
