M.S.R.P's a bitch. Just because something isn't a "HIT" doesn't mean it gets tossed in the bargin bin any quicker. Besides. Mean Girls was on sale during the thanksgiving sales for 9.99 at best buy.
Generally some of these prices stay up to make sure that profit is made before they bump it down to a lower price. They are squeezingt hem for all they are worth.

A movie like Mean Girls also appeals to a specific target audience, teen girls. This usually means it will stay at its higher price until they've exhausted that market. Now that the holidays are over I'll bet it drops by March.

Aren't we being just a little impatient? The movies just came out a few months ago, and already you expect it to drop to half its price? Regardless of whether its a hit or not, doesn't it take at least six months for the MSRP to go down?

you can get these used for under $10.
or you could also go the Columbia House route and get them for under $7 on average.
Like someone else posted, Taking Lives will have an MSRP drop to $19.95 on 2/8/05 so you should see it at most stores for $14.99. On sale it can go as low as $9.99 or 2 for $20.

I don't think you see the MRSP drop until a movie has made it to the premium cable channels like HBO and Showtime. (Also, I suspect that the studios might time their price-drops to compete with the used DVDs that go on sale from rental outlets.)
If "Mean Girls" was only released to DVD in September, I wouldn't expect a price drop until spring.

Don't know about other stores, but Meijer here in Indy has Mean Girls double-packed with Clueless for, I believe, $25.

I feel your pain. I've been waiting for two years for Paramount to drop the list price of THE MEAN MACHINE, but I still can't find a copy for less than $23. Since it's a re-make of THE LONGEST YARD, maybe the Mountain will drop the price when the Adam Sandler re-make and the SE DVD of the original are released this May.

Contrast this with Warner Bros. -- they're already dropping the price of Before Sunset next month.

DDD.com is having a price drop for Mean Girls to $19.95 on 1/11/05. Their price will be $13.56.
Most retailers should have this on sale for $14.99 and it should be included in 2 for $25 and 2 for $30 sales.
Check Bargainflix.com for the price drops.
