So the little booklet for the new DVDs show as streeting on Dec 6th, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Dark Corner and No Way Out (cool cover art, btw). I guess we'll have to wait until the March 06 wave for Kiss of Death? I also hope Roadhouse with Widmark is in that wave...
Loving my new wave 3 DVDs, but I had to buy them at Tower since they're oddly not at Best Buy. I was praying for a 3-pack at Costco like they had for the first wave, but no dice

New item in Amazon. It says it's 9 titles available 1 November (works out to 8.33 per title)

So is Kiss of Death coming out on Dec 6th? I'm going to be pissed off on Fox if they change it later to March.

Amazon lists Road House as a 10/4 release coming from Anchor Bay... Dunno what that means, but it's there if you want to have a look.

I would say the preorder info on Amazon is more trustworthy than the booklets in the DVDs, since the ones that came in last Spring's wave listed Kiss of Death in the fall and no Whirlpool at all. Not to mention No Way Out has been both in the noir booklets and Fox Studio Classics. (92nd Street might have been, too.)

Yeah I saw that, but I wouldn't trust it. Amazon also had Kiss of Death listed as an Anchor Bay released a month ago or so. Also, Road House isn't listed on anchorbay's site at all, and it is owned by fox. Still, I wonder if Anchor Bay plays into this at all...

Can anyone confirm exactly what this is?

Not anymore. Now it says:
Availability: Release date to be announced:The release date for this video has not been finalized. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives.
So let's hope that it will be released by Fox.

Based on the fact that it's 9 discs I'd conclude that it's just a boxset of the 9 FFNs released thus far. Though, since it's amazon exclusive, I'm curious as to whether or not there's an outer box for it. I'd definitely want that box...

That's what I'm curious about. Even if they are just shipped together w/o an outer box, it's still a pretty good price per disc.

The new Entertainment Weekly has reviews of the three newest titles. In it is a mention that the films are "part of a planned 24-film noir series." So we can expect one more year.

BTW, HOUSE ON 92nd STREET gets a C, WHIRLPOOL a B, and SOMEWHERE IN THE NIGHT a B+.

I haven't seen anyone mention the $5 mail-in rebate insert included in the last wave of noir titles yet. You have to buy three between 9/6/05 and 1/31/06 and include the proofs of purchase from the booklets. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this since they're so cheap to begin with.

I don't really mind but this "Fox film noir series" would be closer to 12 or 15 films if the definition of film noir used wasn't so elastic.

Films like House on 92nd Street and Whirlpool can only be included in the film noir genre if you stretch the definition to it's limits. Even the noir historians on the commentary tracks argue that they are not true film noir.

got ya...

well here is something interesting. Opened up lifeboat to find this insert for a buy any 3 fox film noir titles and get 5 bucks back by mail (good til 01.31.06). You have to cut the tabs off your inserts to get the money, so I am going to pass. However there is cover art for No Way Out, and thats the first real mention from any fox source about it. Oddly enough Kiss of Death is not pictured...we may see another swap coming.

I saw the first 6 movies in the series bundled together at Costco this weekend for a very low price. I think it was $28.99. Great deal if you haven't picked any up yet.

I really doubt that. Dark Corner, Kiss of Death and Where the Sidewalk Ends have pretty much been confirmed for next week. Why would fox change it now? There hasn't been any news of these two titles yet, though I would love both.

Those three titles (No Way Out, Fallen Angel and The House on Telegraph Hill) are all up for pre-order at DVD Empire for 8.97 each, 40% off. They also had the December releases up for pre-order very early and they turned out to be accurate.

I'm especially excited for FALLEN ANGEL but I wonder what happened to HANGOVER SQUARE and THE LODGER...hopefully we'll see them in June '06.
