Also, do you think Fox might revoke Criterions license for Night & The City and Pickup On South Street once it expires so that they can release it under their own Fox Noir banner???
According to HTF (which got it from the new inserts):

December:
THE DARK CORNER
NO WAY OUT
WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS

Wow, I've been waiting for Where the Sidewalk ends for quite a while. Love Preminger's work.

So, this is on the insert for the new films? Because I thought last we heard, this was the Wave 3 set for Sept:

The Dark Corner (1946) - Fox Noir Line Wave 3 - Sept. 6th
Hangover Square (1945) - Fox Noir Line Wave 3 - Sept. 6th
The Lodger (1944) - Fox Noir Line Wave 3 - Sept. 6th

Anybody else having issues with getting House of Bamboo? The website I usually order from says it has been discontinued and only shipped the other two titles.

Is Apocalypse Now considered as film noir?

Are only films made in the 50's considered film noir?

Apocalypse Now really wouldn't count although it does share some similar characteristics.

While the formula mastered in the 40's and 50's remains the golden era, the genre lives on in movies like Chinatown, L.A. Confidential, The Man Who Wasn't There...

You might be interested in doing a search for the robust and info packed film noir discussion on DVDTalk. Inside that thread you'll find a comprehensive list of all Noir on DVD along with a definition of the genre and its defining characteristics.

Something must have changed in the plans... Quake1028's post above is dead on, the inserts included in this wave say...

The House on Second Street
Somewhere in the Night
Kiss of Death*

* Date subject to change (or some such babble)

So, yeah...

The store I wanted to buy them at (they have all the Studio Classics titles and the first three noirs for $8.50) didn't have any copies in yet. I'm eager to get them though, so if they don't get them in stock in the next week, I'm going to just go to Best Buy and spend $9.99 a piece on them. Either way that's a great price.

Not sure if it will get the "Fox Film Noir" banner, but Bill Hunt @ The Digital Bits confirmed in his 06/14 post that The House On 92nd Street will be released on 09/06

In other news, 20th Century Fox has announced more titles for release on 9/6, including The House on Haunted Hill (1958), The Innocents, Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation, Satisfaction, Sherlock Holmes: Prelude to Murder (1946), Somewhere in the Night, Terror by Night (1946), Whirlpool, Almost You, The Chase (1994), House on 92nd Street, Goosebumps: Chillogy, Goosebumps: Scary House and Goosebumps: The Ghost Next Door.

- Whirlpool sounds interesting too, I'll check that out.

Isn't that one of the confirmed next rounds?

And I wonder if House on Haunted Hill is getting the remastered treatment? I already have the Warner disc and am pretty happy with it, but I'll keep my eye on this one.

I bought all of the currently released Fox Film Noir DVDs in the latest DDD 20% off sale. Since these DVDs are so cheap, I think I'll collect every single one of them. Thanks for this thread!

From Barrie maxwell's classic coming attractions over at the bits

Fox's third film noir wave will appear on September 6th: House on 92nd Street (1945), Somewhere in the Night (1946), and Whirlpool (1949). This continues to leave Kiss of Death (1947) in limbo. Anchor Bay has now indicated (thanks to a reader who received a message from the company) that the title is not in its plans but would come from Fox itself eventually. Kiss of Death now becomes a candidate for the December Fox film noir wave along with such other possibilities as The Dark Corner, Where the Sidewalk Ends, the oft-mentioned Laird Cregar films (Hangover Square, The Lodger), and even No Way Out [1950] (although the latter has also been touted as a Studio Classics release, where it would more correctly be placed).

Good question. They seem to be shuffling quite a bit in the wave 3 and 4 releases. Be interesting to see the insert of the next wave to tell us what we might expect in Wave 4 come December. To me, any Noir is good Noir so bring them all on but, COME ON, KISS OF DEATH!!!

What happened to THE LODGER (1944) and HANGOVER SQAURE? I thought they were announced for September, but seem to have been delayed.

the bits is showing a 10.04.05 release for this...in the covers section.

i still need to rework the OP, but things have been changed around so much, even I'm a little lost at this point. I'll try to get some work done over the weekend
