Creepshow special edition?

any plans for a special edition?

I was thinking of buying the current version since it was only $6.95.

Not that I've heard.

If your Wal Mart has the $5.50 bins though, you can find it in there.

Best Buy also has it for like $5.50 I think.

natevines 12-30-04 03:29 PM

They really should. It's better than two, and Anchor Bay released a nice SE of that. I wish they owned the rights for part 1, since they obviously have a lot more respect for horror films.

demonio 12-30-04 04:41 PM

the $5.50 one is enough of a Special Edition for me.

freudguy 01-03-05 09:03 AM

If the third one is ever made, we may get a SE then. Romero has hinted at it several times but it never seems to take flight. Check www.dreadcentral.com for info.

I wish they would release a Special Edition for Creepshow.
A Romero and King commentary would be a blast!

I had the chance to see the longer version of the film back in the 80's. Someone I knew had a "not offical" copy of it on VHS. I wish I had made a copy for myself.
The missing footage was cool from what I remember about it.
I do remember some great gore effects from the first segment, "Father's Day" and the second segment with Stephen King. In fact all of the segments had something extra. I believe it ran maybe 8 to 10 minutes longer.

With all of the crap Warner is putting out in Special Edition format they should show Creepshow and it's fans some respect and release a Two-Disc Special Edition. The 25th anniversary of the film isn't until 2007. I hope we don't have to wait that long for it!

I wonder if there would be much of a demand for a re-release of Creepshow. I'd be positively cheered if Warner put out a special edition. This is one of my favorite movies.

A King commentary would be welcome. He did one on the Storm of the Century DVD that was terrific, one of the better commentaries I'd heard.

Definitely one of my favs and deserves better treatment!

i love this movie too but for some reason i just feel creepshow 2 was better.

Wow. You don't hear that too often.

Considering that there wasn't even a passing reference to such at the Warners chat last month at the HTF, I'd easily rule it out as a possibility for 2006, though the fact that next year marks an anniversary is compelling...perhaps now is time to start sending those "please, please, please" e-mails to Warners...

Special edition, smecial edition. As long as they get the REAL widescreen version out! The film was shot in an aspect ratio of 1.66:1 and cropped to 1.85:1 for theatrical release. When they put the DVD out, instead of putting the real widescreen version on the disc, they took the pan and scan version, and matted it to 1.85! About 30 to 40% of the original screen is missing!

OwlAtHome 04-01-06 02:30 PM

I'd buy one, I want my Meteor Shit Edition.

Digigeek06 04-01-06 07:18 PM

I would like to see a SE of Creepshow, count me in.By the way, what is the lastest word on Creepshow 3?

DarthVong 04-01-06 07:21 PM

This film is deserving of a SE IMO. I just don't see Warners doing it though.

WOW I NEVER KNEW THAT TY FOR LETTING ME KNOW

The Reaper 04-02-06 07:33 AM

A Creepshow SE has been one of the most requested horror titles around but Warner always passes on it. They need to start releasing more horror on a general basis, not just around Halloween. It's the one area they've always been lacking in.

wahlers 02-06-07 01:08 PM

I don't see any proof that the current DVD is cropped from a pan-and-scan edition. It's more likely that the full-frame VHS tapes, etc. were open-matte.

All the comic text panels were placed well in the frame and the borders and such fit the letterbox.

P.S. Anybody heard much about the upcoming remake?

kevkev 02-06-07 01:25 PM

no. it was cropped. not sure about te old laserdisc. i think the workprint is the nearer the correct ratio which has some extra scenes.

i would think that with tales from the crypt and ec reprinting all their comics, it would be a good time to rerelease it.

Case01 02-06-07 08:40 PM

With Creepshow 3(Creepshow in name only) and the possible remake(or 2008? film titled Creepshow). A new SE could possibly be on the next year horizon. This project doesn't have a lot of credibility though.

Where did you hear they're reprinting the comics and where can I get them?!
That's outstanding news.

Do a search for "Tales from the Crypt" on Amazon.

many purists think the old b/w archive sets are the best as thats how they left the artists hand. the new sets are full colour but do have some slight colour/shadow changes but i'm happy with them. these new sets are being released a volume at a time every few months. so its gonna be a good 18 months-2 years before they all turn up. the tv show had episodes from TFTC, shock suspenstories, vault of horror, haunt of fear, and i think two fisted tales. so those are all worth buying. the only thing i dont like is the 'ec archives' banner and the need to mention a foreward by stephen king etc.. it just looked a tiny bit tacky.
