I bought myself the ROTK:EE. Other than that, I got absolutely nothing else for Christmas, DVD or otherwise...and I'm not even joking.

dvds were the majority of what I received this year. Only 3 of them I asked for,the rest were all basically just random picks by my mom.

Here are the ones I asked for and got(despite my mom forgetting my small list, she did remember the titles surprisingly)

The Simpsons Season 4(I said pick up any of seasons 2-5 since she bought me season 1 last year).
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Total Recall SE

Then it gets abit strange.......

Men of Honor P&S version. I have'nt seen it yet,at least my brother likes it. So it's a keeper for him. She bought it at Wal-Mart obviouslly(sticker said so) and does know the difference between widescreen and P&S. But alas, she didn't check when picking out any of the dvds she bought, since she felt she 'must' buy 'something'(despite it being no big deal to myself..ie-she didn't have to buy anything if she didn't want to).

Don't Say A Word...saw bits on cable. Seems like it 'may' be a good thriller. So I will give it a fair chance.

Originally these two were for my older brother........

Dude Where's My Car?...he saw it in theaters, hates the film, says it is the worst film ever made! This coming from someone who likes various 'stupid humor' comedies! I saw one sequence on cable before and it was quite amusing. So I think I 'may' like the film,if it's as enjoyably amusing as the strip club sequence. So that is how this dvd ended up being mine now.

Sleeping With the Enemy...neither of us have seen it. He does'nt want it,so basically it is mine at the moment. I'll give it a chance sometime, then maybe sell it.

I suspect my mom just bought a bunch of the Fox double packs, which is how we ended up with such random unexpected film gifts all from Fox Studios!

Since she also bought us(for the family) Big and Big Mommas House. Sadly both are P&S/fullscreen only(again Wal-Mart purchases).

She also got my sister Honey(P&S as well) from Wal-Mart.

Thank god she did NOT pick up Grease at Target or Wal-Mart as originally planned. I told her not too, since they only have the P&S version. She said she would check Borders then for the widescreen(they were out).

She was also worried about the dvds she bought and asked me "I hope I picked the right ones,I didn't think to look for widescreen,I thought they were all widescreen". Since I thought she was refering to the films on my list,I told her don't worry since the films I asked for, were WS only.

She was also going to pick up the MGM single release of Dances With Wolves, since she knows I love the film. I warned her with "NOOOOOOOO" and told her why(it's P&S only). I also have the bloated extended version on dvd,and since I prefer the Theatrical version. I found the original Image release for $5 on ebay

Not a bad Xmas actually, but abit surprising to say the least, lol.

Oh well,at least I can still be happy that films I actually asked for,I have NEVER gotten a pan & scan version

I got from my dad a $100 gift card for Target. I 'may' use it on at least 1 dvd(I literally have no room left for more, the shelves are already full!). But I may buy a cool 2.1 speaker system for my laptop. So I can enjoy some bass and stuff on my more 'heavy' soundmix films like Pink Floyd:The Wall among others. Then spend whats left on clothes and stuff.

I only got the ones I set aside from the DDD sale for my mom to cover. These included both volumes of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Ken Burns' Civil War, and the Eddie Guerrero DVD. Wasn't really driving at getting anything other than that, since I'm trying to downsize my backlog and I wanted to get things other than DVDs (i.e. my new portable DVD player).

My sister bought for my dad one of those laser levelers. One of the last few on the shelf anywhere, I might add...
You can do much better than that for 24.

You can get 24 Season 1 for $15 at a lot of places (I think that it'll be cheap this week at Best Buy.

24 Seasons 2 & 3 can be had much cheaper at Costco. For 24 Season 3, you can get it at FYE (or any Trans World Ent. Corp. store) for $54.99 + Tax - $25 MIR.

I get more money than gifts. I'm sort of a hard person to buy for, apparently. So I bought some myself:

- Boogie Nights: Platinum Ed.
- Columbo: Season One
- Dark City: Platinum Ed.
- Day Of the Dead: Limited Ed.
- Hard Eight: Special Ed.
- John Cassavetes: Five Films (Criterion Collection)
- M (Criterion Collection)
- Short Cuts (Criterion Collection)
- The Simpsons: Season Five

More to come.
