What about bestiality? Since you neglected to mention it, I'm assuming you enjoy that particular genre. Whew, I thought I was the only one!

Joel Schumacher.

2. broad, low-brow comedies (bringing down the house, xmas with the kranks, etc)
3. queen latifah movies, the only so-called "actress" that gets on my nerves.
4. anything clearly made without a trace of humanity (cannibal holocaust).

All of the above plus Westerns, Mob films, and anything starring:

Ben Affleck
Ashley Judd
Adam Sandler (Except Punch Drunk Love)
Woody Allen (Also anything he directed)
Sandra Bullock
Tim Allen
Will Ferrell
The Rock
Jason Biggs
Vin Diesel
David Spade
Dana Carvey
Molly Shannon
Any films starring any male actors from friends
Mike Myers
Jennifer Lopez
Clive Owen
Colin Ferrell
Any teen stars such as Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohen etc.

Musicals :yack:

Robert 12-21-04 10:29 PM

Anything 100% computer animated from Pixar or any other studio. The only reason these movies make so much money is because the primary target audience is the parent with the 3-4 hyperactive rugrats whose only means of sedating their kids is to drag them to the megaplex and watch the celebrity-voiced fish interact with the other celebrity-voiced fish.

How do you know if you haven't watched??
That's actually the worst description I've heard of Cannibal Holocaust, 'cause it's just not true.

"Religious message" pics. I'm PASSIONate about this one.

I avoid the anime genre and movies with the following stars:

Shirley Temple
John Wayne
Ben Affleck
Matt Damon
Bruce Willis
Steven Seagal

and a few others I can't remember right now.

Ginwen 12-22-04 03:06 AM

I don't think so. There's things, like Anime, that aren't generally my favorite, but I'm willing to watch a good movie of pretty much any genre (leaving out Groucho's suggestions and the follow-ups).

illennium 12-22-04 03:27 AM

I won't watch most movies. Just glancing at the listings of the local multiplex reveals a slew of movies that will go unwatched by me:

The Phantom of the Opera
The Aviator
Blade: Trinity
Fat Albert
Flight of the Phoenix
Meet the Fockers
National Treasure
Spanglish

You'd have to pay me to see any of these. And this is just what's playing now, in one theater.

Psych1 12-22-04 04:49 AM

I'm not easily offended but I am very easily bored. I'll watch anything as long as I'm enjoying it, or learning something. But "With so many movies and so little time" I tend to watch only those films that are highly recommended by people whose opinions I have learned to trust - regardless of genre.

I guess I do make some exceptions - like Woody Allen films, I love them all.

matome 12-22-04 06:52 AM

The last movie I watched with JLo in it that I could actually stand was Out Of Sight. No anime or movies starring rappers either.

me too - everybody should keep their religion to themselves.

aside from that i don't watch:

- horror movies (why would i want to be scared by a movie? reality is waaay scarier)
- anything starring adam sandler (i gave him several chances - billy madison, waterboy and little nicky and they were just unbelievably awful (esp. little nicky))
- chick flicks
- what i call 'cloak and dagger' movies - anything with knights, medieval times, romans, great alexanders... there has been a rash of those recently)

and i hate 'jump scenes' with a passion...

I don't care for gay porn either-or bestiality.

freudguy 12-22-04 09:46 AM

Slapstick movies (though I do rent them for my son every now and then if PG)
Anime - I love sci-fi so there is probably some anime I would like but I just haven't watched that much of it
Merchant Ivory-style movies - I never like period love stories (except for Somewhere in Time if that counts)
Comedies geared to the black population - nope, not rascist, just a culture gap
Date movies - modern romance movies seem to be generally geared to teens and are so predictable that I can tell you what will happen at the end after watching a few minutes - this pisses my wife off

I stay away from the following for my own personal taste:

MUSICALS
any movie with a rapper
any movie with a pop star
any movie centering around dancing in any shape or form
and anything with my most hated actor Mathew Lillard (except Scream)

sdk 12-22-04 11:25 AM

If the movie is good i will watch anything.

Spanglish is one of the best movies that I've seen all year so I think that you're missing out on your boycott of Adam Sandler.

To answer your question, I'll watch most things at least once. I never really got into Anime but if I watched it, I'm sure that I wouldn't mind.

mljones99 12-22-04 11:37 AM

I can watch just about anything except Denzel Washington.

leacha 12-22-04 11:39 AM

Anything billed as a "romantic comedy". I've tried and it just will not work.

Good point...I dont really care for him at all, and my wife brought me to this movie, and I really enjoyed it. I try not to make blanket statements about anyone or any genre, only if its something I want to see. That being said, I dont think I have ever watched an entire anime movie all the way through, and I find that musicians and models who try to act usually can't.

spartanstew 12-22-04 12:35 PM

I'll also add that I don't watch much Comedy at all. I can usually see the jokes coming and therefore they're not funny to me. I remember watching Analyze This and I couldn't believe people were laughing. You mean when he shot that pillow, you didn't know that that's exactly what he was going to do?

On the other hand, I do like some screwball or gross out comedy. Dumb and Dumber comes to mind. The jokes and actions were so far out there that I never saw most of them coming and that made me laugh.

I also don't like anything with rappers in it, any dance movies, chick flicks, musicals (although I enjoy live musicals at the theater), or HORROR movies. I"ve seen exactly one horror movie in my life (original Friday the 13th) and that was enough.
