Ok, what's the deal with the print of Seven Samurai?

So what is the deal with the print of Seven Samurai?
I heard that Toho film won't give ( or lend ) the best prints to criterion, is this true? Do you think that we can hope for a remaster as good as M? Can this be remastered to look as good? I not nearly the same age as M.
I am really looking forward to the Criterion Re-release next year!

Hopefully Toho will. That along with the new subs was a great experience at the theater last year.
