Fullscreen ALERT: Iceman (1984)...

Darn! "Universal is releasing Iceman (1984 -- Timothy Hutton and John Lone) on DVD on December 28. And (according to Amazon and www.dvdpricesearch), it will be 4:3."*

This movie, a true favorite of mine, was filmed in Panavision. What a shame.

NO OAR = NO SALE!

BTW, if *we* are trying to sell widescreen TVs, why are *we* pushing Fullscreen DVDs?

*Quote is from HTF.

Yep, I was excited when this was announced, along with Tank and a few others, as part of Universal's December selection, back in October.....

The fullscreen for Iceman is REALLY a letdown, since OAR was 2.35 : 1

It's overused here seems to me, but I totally agree..... NO OAR, NO SALE!!!

Wow! 71 views and 1 reply - I hope no one from the studios looks at the Fullscreen complaint posts and draws some unfortunate conclusions.

Folks, are we getting a bit apathetic or what? This may not be your favorite film, but "My cousin is a DVD thief" should *not* be more interesting than studios releasing substandard product. Gosh the DVD community sure has changed (grown). :(

The studios pulled another Forbin debacle.

Cameron 12-21-04 11:38 AM

Duality I agree with you....this dvd is not top priority for me but let me say, (and i know the vast majority here would agree) OAR is the most important feature on a dvd. Without that to start, no dts or behind the scenes doc is going to make me buy a release. It's shameful.

dvd means OAR-then the world would be a better place

I think the real problem is that this is old news, and has already been complained about quite a bit in other threads. But yeah, it pisses me off too.

D'oh!

We've already complained about this tons in a couple of threads when the DVd was announced. This isn't apathy... you're just late with the news. :)

Bronkster 12-21-04 07:52 PM

Well, I would feel guilty now for reading and agreeing, but not posting -wink- but I have nothing new to add so I'll just quote Cameron, whose opinion most closely matches my own. And let me also repeat this: NO OAR = NO SALE :grunt:

Oooo. Tank. Thanks for the heads up. A great Saturday afternoon movie.

This news is so old that the original thread on the subject would have to be thawed out before it could be read.

Jazzbutcher 12-22-04 07:49 AM

Studios, LISTEN UP:

No OAR=No Sale! :grunt: :johnwoo:
