Own 10 out of the 12 DVDs, do not own Kill Bill and The Day after tomorrow.

The movie I have not seen is Kill Bill Vol 1.

Wow, Open Range did incredibly well. Not a baqd movie, but I certainly didn't expect it to pull this sort of profit.

Is this the Total Profit? or Total Sales?

That's how much they made. Whatever you want to call it. :)

But is that how much the movie made, or how much they made just off the dvd sales?

Should be interesting to see what will beat Shrek 2

Revenue is a lousy way to rank DVD sales, whether it's via rental, sales, profits or whatever. Boxed sets are artificially inflated in ranking because they cost more, while lower-priced sets are artificially deflated. Case in point, the Star Wars Trilogy wouldn't even be on Dane's list of the top 20 if it were ranked by units sold--the only accurate way to rank the top sellers.

No, the accurate way to rank the top sellers is by how much money something made. True, box sets cost more, but they generally sell less units because of it. Even so, Star Wars still made more money than everything other than Shrek 2. Although it seems to depend on whose list you go by, since different people's lists have different order to sales.

I own 9 out of the 12. Don't own The Passion of the Christ, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Elf.

I'm suprised Aladdin: Platinum Edition isn't on that list. It sure looked like it was selling well.

Not really. You just have a different taste in movies. That's my guess.

Nope, I don't buy it.

Last year, The Indiana Jones Collection sold 3.3 million copies. The Matrix Reloaded sold 8.35 million copies. How can anyone argue that the former was a bigger seller than the latter just because its revenue was $10 million more? Indiana Jones might have brought in more money, but The Matrix Reloaded was clearly the bigger seller; it was nearly three times more popular. Measuring by units sold--the same way CDs and books are measured, by the way--puts everything on an equal plane.

Scarface came out last year. I remember giving it as a X-mas present.
