Branded - The Complete First Season 'Question'
Are these episodes the original uncut versions, or are they the edited for syndication versions?
|
Me to? I never new this was released. Amazon says it was released by "On Deck Home Enterta" and Dvdpricesearch says EDI. Seems to have different MSRP some places the MSRP is 39.95 and others its 28.00 or so.

Why is the word question in quotation marks?

According to a post on the HTF, these are the syndicated, edited episodes. There's a sticky thread in the "Software - TV Shows" forum that lists this type of cuts to TV DVDs.
|
The shows are cut for sure, by about 3 minutes each. These are the edited for syndication versions. Don't waste your money.

Thanks for the heads up, Paul and Steve. I was a couple of days away from making the purchase. I'll likely hold off now. Hopefully, somebody will release the first season with complete episodes.
Anybody know if The Guns of Will Sonnett, released around the same time as Branded, has been truncated in the same manner? |
Arthur Digby Sellers, dude! He wrote 120 of the episodes... BULK OF THE SERIES!

Got Branded the Complete Second Season set today from Deepdiscountdvd for 21.60 DDD says the msrp is 39.95. It has 32 color episodes on 3 discs. The box says the total running time is over 13 hours. Each disc has an Extra with Branded Creator Larry Cohen, A Career and a Coward are Born, Turmoil on the Set and Life After Branded. I think the average running time for each Extra was about 20 minutes.
Yes, they are cut as running times seem to be under 23 minutes as they were in the First Season. |
Good show and one of the very best theme songs of all time! The symbolism of Chuck Connors' character (after being court martialed for desertion) saving his broken sword to serve as a weapon/calling card and memento of the quest to regain his honor was both brilliant and very amusing. That Arthur Digby Sellers could really write!
But it's too bad the shows are cut. Bear in mind that this series is fairly obscure, and will probably never be given a premium release by any studio, so maybe one can't be too choosy. |
