What's your most coveted/beloved OOP DVD?
I would have to say mine is "The Killer" Criterion. Love the movie and everything else on it. Close 2nd is "Little Shop of Horrors"...that ending is just surreal.
|
The Killer CC for me as well.
|
All of my DVDs are coveted, otherwise, I wouldn't keep 'em. ;)

Me, I gotta go with 'Spinal Tap' for two reasons. One, the main thing that I wanted on it (the original short) is in color. Sorry, 'Little Shop', but it edges you out in that category. Second is that when my whole collection (including 'Little Shop') was stolen, that weekend I went on E-bay and saw the Criterion 'Spinal Tap' for $50 buy-it-now (best price I've ever seen it for by a *lot*), and bought it as a consolation for having lost the previous collection. [I have subsequently replaced 'Little Shop' as well, yes.] |
Ahem... "What's your most coveted/beloved OOP DVD?" The significance of the slash is to convey separation, meaning and/or.
|
Goldeneye (Standard and letterbox) only because it was the 1st dvd i ever bought.
|
Now mind you I do not own Salo, The Killer, or any other OOP disk that requires a small mortgage payment. But I am quite happy with my Ultimate Toy Box.

Silence of the Lambs: Criterion
Halloween: Limited Edition (Limited to 10,000) T2: Ultimate Edition (2-Disc Metal Slip Cover) E.T. Ultimate Gift Set |
All 3 or the original Bond DVD sets for 2 reasons.
First of all, because I'm a Bond freak, but also because they were stolen last year, and I was able to recover them at a local pawn shop with the help of a really nice police detective. I'll never let them go. |
My copy of Mario Bava's Rabid Dogs. Undeniably the gem of my collection, but I keep it on he shelves like a normal DVD so as not to arouse suspicion at its worth. Just check out how much the Amazon Used discs are selling for (mine was only $90, luckily).

Probably Toy Story Ultimate Box.
|
criterion sid and nancy
kms |
Yeah... Probably Sid & Nancy CC for the extras. I have the MGM as well for the anamorphic transfer, but I wouldn't part with the CC (unlike SOTL, which I gladly sold for $60).
I also put together a collection of all of the "Mr. Color" Reservoir Dogs DVDs... You can still find the "Mr. Color" slipcases but it's not so easy to track em' all down. Silly, I know. :) |

In other words, what's your most coveted and/or beloved OOP DVD? It is a toss up between The Killer CC or The Ultimate Toy Box. |
Spinal Tap. How I love that movie.
|
Flash Gordon... oh how the original DVD is so bad. I cant wait for a new release.
|
probably my Ed Wood DVD (the one with the crossdressing featurette), since I bought it while I was in Europe over the summer, my Bride of Re-Animator (unrated) DVD, since I got that for only 12 bucks. Oh and the Robocop: Criterion because well Robocop rules.
|
The Orion dts 2 disc Dances With Wolves
|
I did have Salo, but sold it cuz...well, I didn't really like it. Also the guy who bought it appreciated much more than I did. Who knew it would go for so much now!
I do have The Killer, which I traded for my Little Shop of Horrors. Spinal Tap Criterion is another great one I have. The Aliens companion disc that came with the original boxset is another favorite. I have a few others but those three are my most coveted, and beloved. |
Kiss Of the Vampire - Universal's OOP Hammer disc,
|
I covet my boss' copy of the first pressing of Seven Samurai CC which I found in his collection and let him know about. Like many of his DVDs he has never watched it and it just sits on his shelf. I almost regret telling him.
