Star Wars: Ep. I & II reissues (3/22/05)

Well, it looks like that on the day of the release of Vol. 1 of Clone Wars, Lucasfilm is re-issuing the first two prequals according to DDD.

Episode I
Episode II

So, if you missed them the first time around, here's your chance to grab'em this time. Wonder if this Episode I will have the rumored CGI-replacent Yoda.

It's PREQUEL not "prequal"

I don't know how this common mistake got started.

I still see plenty of Episode II, Episode I has seemed a bit harder to come by.

My main concern is if they will be re-tooling Episode I's CGI and/or replacing puppet Yoda. It's only a couple of years old and it really needs an update.

Doing CGI fixes to CGI in a fairly recent movie doesn't bother me in the least, but why replace puppet Yoda?

Looks like every future release of any star wars film could be different from the previous. Maybe they should issue each release with a version number so we can keep track of them all

Yeah, I'm personally holding on to my .0000 version of the dvd.

Now that's a reference to get as a star wars fan.

Even though the DVD came out in 2001, the numbering scheme used for it was still .00. Your .0000 is a bootleg! God, I feel worse than a Trekkie.

I'll wait til 2007 until the mega boxed-set is out. With Lucas still around, anything can happen.

well the upc's are diffrent than the current oop releases so heres to hoping...also they wouldn't be .0000 because they had added scenes from the theatrical release....the original vhs or Episode 1 was even a little tweeked if i remember correct. I'm sure someone here can link us up to a list of all the changes between theatrical-vhs-dvd-imax-dvd2 and whatever else til kingdom come

Jack, were you intentionally ribbing TPM action figures? The funny thing is I remember "collectors" looking for the figures that had the lowest numbers on the back.

Ding ding ding ding! You are the winner. Yes, back in the first few waves of TPM figures, everyone was after the package numbers on the back. I believe the .000 was the Darth Maul with a new sculpted head. But there was a couple of different "variants" based on the stupidity factor of the numbers on the back.

God it was terrible to be into the figures back then.. still now.

I didn't even know Episodes I & II were OOP. Like the 2 Matrix sequels, I finally realized I just couldn't justify having them in my collection anymore so I decided to sell them off. I figured I wouldn't get more than $5 a piece, but ended up selling Episode I for $25 and Episode II for $20. I'll definitely go check out Revenge of the Sith this summer - I feel like I've invested too much to walk away now - but frankly, it's not possible to resuscitate this series. Star Wars started and ended for me with the original trilogy. Lucas can repackage, re-edit, and re-issue these things as much as he wants, but you can't polish a turd.

The Yoda puppet definitely needs replacing, and Ep 1 overall needs a new transfer. I'm sure I could find a relative who wouldn't mind my old Ep 1.

Hope it is true. I never got these 2 and even though I know lucas will come out with a boxset, still would be nice to have now and not paying $25.

Its probably just a re-release of the old versions since the movie is coming out in May.

superbit'em, drop the commentaries and space-using extras to boost the video and audio (sans DTS)

This will likely just be a rerelease or price drop. The new Episode 1 with CG Yoda probably won't out til the big boxset in 2006 or whenever.

I sold my copies of Episode I and II. I have no plans to rebuy them. Episodes IV, V, and IV are all I need.
