DVD Cases sticking together?
 

I have used a tower DVD Rack that holds 72 DVD's but I've been able to hold some more with boxsets and such.Anyway the regular plastic cover dvd cases that have been stacked for a while seem to stick together and generate some build up in the case that is sticky.I now wish I had gotten a horizontal rack of some sorts which I will be looking into soon.I've run out of room already.Does anyone know what this is and how to prevent it?I have a feeling if I pack my dvds vertically in the same way the same thing will happen.Also if I were to just take every dvd and clean it well will it come back?(I've tried it out a few dvds and it just came back)

Hmm...sounds like a ventilation problem. Is the room you're storing them in overly humid? Or does anyone smoke?

When my DVDs stick together it's because I didn't clean up the security stickers properly.

Are they adult dvd's? Sorry, someone had to....

The recommended way to store DVDs are to file them vertically. Could the stickiness be the sweat from your hand?

Yes I do but I smoke and my room is pretty hot during the time's im not at home,all I do is check them often and wipe them down with a lightly damp cloth and have not had a problem since,take care of them you will be fine in anywhere.

And if you feel some of your cases are ruined because of it you can always just replace the cases yourself,pretty fair price for them also.

I drop my DVD cases in a large bag of cellulose, and shake them around for a few minutes, then put them back on the shelf. I do this once a year, and I have had no problems at all.

its a pretty cold,dry room.the dvds are near the window and the cold air seems to get near it i think it may be the problem.

Is this for real? And do you do this before or after you adjust the brightness, color and contrast on your TV, so that you can have a clean, pristine DVD of every film EVERY TIME?

Sounds like changes in temp rather than smoke, bodily fluids or even humidity. Is that possible? Although I would assume a combination of changes in temp and humidity. How is Chicago for humidity, anyway? Does it stay higher in the winter due to the lake?
