re "they kept the songs that were mentioned" - well, Georgia loses on that as well.

During the episode, Al says to Sam, "and get her Georgia on My Mind" - she LOVES that song. - so the song IS mentioned during the episode.

Why don't we all just package up season 2 and send it back to Universal with a note saying we won't tolerate this crap? Maybe THAT would get their attention.

Quantum Leap Season 2 is being released in the UK, and I just stumbled over this bit of info @ thedvdforums.com:

Just got my copy of Quantum Leap season 2 (UK R2 version) and the first thing I did was check the last episode M.I.A to see if Georgia on My Mind (by Ray Charles) was in the background at the end of the episode....Guess what??? IT IS!...WooooHooooo!

So far I've checked 'Disco Inferno', 'MIA', 'Another Mother', and 'Animal Frat' - all original music is present

Also note that the R2 version has 6 DVD-9s instead of 3 DVD-18s.
Season 2 is out tomorrow, season 3 in December.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I might have to hock mine and go R2. I'll have to check out the price though.

*edit - Ouch. $44. I'd pay that price first time out for original music, but a double dip is hard to swallow that high. Are there any online used R2 shops like half.com?

If the R2 versions are indeed complete with music, I might have to get those. There's no way I'll ever buy the R1 releases without the original music, I never even bought S1 because I was holding out for the other seasons. And sure enough, Universal delivered another crap product, so they can suck it on the R1 releases. I'll just be watching my VHS until I can get a decent copy on dvd.
Thanks for the info, I'll have to be on the lookout for some reviews of this.

Quantum Leap was my all-time favorite show, and the only one that I ever taped. However, I have not watched Season 2 because ever since I bought it, I've debated returning it. It disgusts me that Universal is so idiotic.

If the music is intact on the R2 releases, it should've been on R1. The only negative to R2, of course, is the PAL speedup for music, changing the tempo. However, this may be preferable. If so, I'll wait until after Christmas, return my Season 2 set to a B&M and order the R2.

The RIAA can only screw over America (Recording Industry Association of America (or something). Overseas is a whole different world. Things like Ally McBeal (all out) or Wonder Years can come out there without any music changes.

Well the above was only based on info I've gathered from people inside the industry. It may not be 100%.

But with Ally McBeal out over there along with other shows and them all having the original music, it definately seems to be true...

The RIAA is the reason that I have not purchased a CD (or bought any iTunes music, etc.) in years. Greedy bastards.

Awesome news. I will be picking up the R2 versions for sure! QL is one of my all time favorite shows.

I'm still peeved there are NO extras on S2 or S3, and the extras on S1 are so weak. How about some commentaries? Trivia Tracks? Better documentaries.

I completely agree that the music changes are complete crap.

Having said that, I'm amazed at how much you all complain and the only thing you do about it is leave your voice unheard and pay them more money. There is no logic whatsoever, given your complaints, to sell your R1 and buy R2. If anything, write them and have them replace them. They changed their tune and changed the BTTF discs.

I for one did exactly that. I wrote an email to them to express my discontent about the situation. no response at all from them.

I wrote 3 e-mails to Universal and sent them a scathing letter (yeah, the kind with paper) about the Quantum Leap "fiasco" right after Season 2 was announced with music changes. Never got one peep back from them. I never picked up S2 or S3 nor any Universal DVDs since. That has changed recently because to the $4.88 DVDs at Wal-Mart (picked up Duel & Broken Silences). I am definately picking up the R2 DVDs (as long as all the Seasons are unchanged). Quantum Leap is one of my favorite TV Shows but I refuse to buy the "inferior" versions Universal has drummed up.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if the R2 release of Season 3 has the correct music intact?

Yes, R2 has all the original music for Season 3.

http://www.quantumleap-alsplace.com/...The%20Complete

The Region 2 (UK) version does not have music replacement as did the Region 1 (US) version. Due to different copyright laws outside of the USA, Region Two features all episodes complete with the originally aired music!
Plus, I own it and can confirm it.

Also, R2 has six one-sided discs instead of three two-sided discs like R1.

I'll be getting Seasons 4 and 5 from the UK also when they are released.

Thanks movielib. I am definitely going with the R2 releases (I have Season 2), I have always waited for confirmation first, though. I always enjoy this answer the best:

Re: Quantum Leap Season Two - Music Replaced!

I too am also purchasing Seasons Two and Three from the UK.
I laugh at those incapable or ignorant about not having multi-region.

Yes, it does. Now can anyone tell me why season 4 suddenly had to have music changes?
