When Do You Think The Recent Aladdin 2 Disk Platinum Edition Will Go OOP?

And raise in price? Its the only release of Aladdin made by Disney on DVD. Im new to collecting/buying dvd's, but im no fool. I see some disney titles that are OOP, go for up to triple/quadruple its retail original value, even used sell pretty high, least on some.

Would it be smart to pick up a bunch of copies of this? Will it go Out Of Production anytime soon, and raise in price? Maybe you Disney DVD fanatics can help me out? :) PLMK, Thnx

Take the date that Lion King is to go back in the vault and add one to the year.

If you are going to stock up, do so now while the price is low. That said, DVD speculation will not make you rich and is generally a bad investment.

Very few DVDs really go 'up' in price where its double the retail. Even alot of the Disney movies may fetch only $35-$40 when they were originally $20. You're more often to get burned buying a DVD now and watching it fall into the Wal-mart $5.50 bin.

Here's some questions you should think about asking:

-How many Aladdin DVDs will be produced?
-What is the future demand for an out of print Aladdin DVD?
-Once out of print, what will the average price be?
-How long until Disney produces an HD/Blu-Ray Aladdin DVD?
-Is there a better place to invest my money?

Aladdin's not going to rise in price the same way as titles such as The Little Mermaid, Snow White, and Toy Story did. Those were earlier titles (99-2001) that went OOP before DVD really hit the mainstream. Aladdin probably has 10-15 million copies in print so there won't be much of a shortage of it when it finally goes OOP.

Well, The Lion King doesn't actually get discontinued until December 28, so it shouldn't be all that surprising you'd see it on store shelves.

Well, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first Platinum Edition and is, probably, the most sought-after of the Platinums. It was released over 3 years ago. I picked up my copy at Wal*Mart for $17. I just checked eBay and you can get legit copies for $27-$34.

If you want to "invest" in Platinums, I'd wait until next year when Bambi comes out. Buy hundreads of copies and sit on 'em for 5 years. Oh, and pray they don't release it in the Blu-Ray format in 4 years :)

Tomorrow

"Aladdin" was mass produced as are all Disney Platinum editions nowadays. This will never be sought after and never get more than $30 or at least no one would pay more than $30 unless they are an idiot.

If Aladdin went OOP today youd still be able to find shelves full of them for a long time to come.
