Anybody have problems with it freezing? I tried it in 2 players, with no visible signs of anything wrong on the disc, and both times it froze at chapter 14 on the extended cut.

Really?

And any 2-sided disc is a FLIPPER! How else do you watch whats on the other side? Who cares if the movie continues on side 2 or not, you still have to FLIP it.

I've always considered a movie split over two sides to be a flipper and a disc with a movie on one side and extras the other to be dual sided.

What DVD player do you have? That's a problem I have with a few Miramax Kevin Smith DVDs. It happens on both discs of Clerks:TAS, and on the Clerks:X discs as well. I've never been able to figure out why, and even replacement discs from BVHV do the same thing. I was hoping it wouldn't be the case with these discs, but I guess it will be.

oh, I have a Pioneer DVL-909.

There's a small bit or two not carried over but in general the original is obsolete.

I think Affleck is still ashamed his comic book in the movie was "Buttman".

I would go just to see Jason Lee.

And grndy85, might as well hold onto the orginial version. I myself am only buying the new version for the extended cut and will keep the other disc for the "theatrical cut".

Also, are the two (smith and affleck) still good friends? Smith on the q&a on the side a, made a joke that seeing another shot of Affleck in
Spoiler:
the prison scene at the end of the extended version, getting raped
is a crowning moment and his favorite scene in the movie since its easy to get some.

When Affleck went to the 'Chasing Amy' Q&A earlier this year, he was almost stampeded to death by a herd of wild fanboys (and girls). I tend to think he's gonna shy away from those sort of events for now.

just went to Blockbuster and opened a Mallrats case on one of those renting shelves, and well there was room for 1 CD. So I guess it's double sided here in Canada too.

I just remember Affleck pointing out that "Buttman" bit on the commentary. He also mentioned something about the fact that his face isnt on the cover while pretty much everyone else in the movie is.

if i remeber correctly, that commentary was done in 98 or 99. (they mention many times "the unreleased dogma") Also, most of the people in the flick were unknownes at the time.

depends. There are some funny bits in there here and there, but i thought it was too long (as smith says in the commentary and the introduction, "do we really need a 2 hour movie about guys running around in a fucking mall?"
And the original idea was, because Smith and Mosier didn't get to edit the movie (a universal studio head did), they thought they'd try it out. So universal found all of the dailies, ect, and put them in the computer digitally. But because the movie had a very low budget, and what not, most of the footage was litterally a coulple of long 5 minute plus takes without coverage. So they said it was a waste of time, and that the studio head did fine. Also the final extended edition cut is the full shooting script.
Also, some stuff in the theatrical release isn't there (the clerks Jullie Dowyer reference in particular)

Affleck was in Canada shooting Truth, Justice & The American Way. Forlani was in Asia, shooting a commercial (Kevin thought that was odd too).

They had a falling out earlier this year, after his marriage to Jen Garner, but they've patched things up now.

Too true. I just stood back and watched; it was nasty.
