Being a fan of this show without HBO certainly requires a lot of waiting. I'll be there release day, regardless.

given that the 6th and final season won't air until sometime in 2006, i guess it is apropos.

Exactly, and because of the air date of the last season, I expected a later rather than sooner release, for season 5. But, popular shows always gain more fans as time goes on. It can give new-coming fans from watching Season 5, time to buy and watch the other seasons, not to mention it will help bridge interest in the show between the holidays to when the actual season will start in 2006.

I'm just glad they're not splitting a season in half like SATC and charging full price for each half. I'm glad I'm buying my wife the last of those after Christmas.
