Heads-up...2 versions of Blade Trinity

Well, the film isn't in theaters yet, but Blade Trinity's director, David Goyer, is saying that he's planning on 2 versions of the last Blade film on DVD. The standard theatrical version and an 11-minute longer version with a darker alternate ending. All this from the DigitalBits' Rumor Mill. :D

Question is, will there be a 10-disc box set, akin to the Matrix set? Picture it...
  • Blade
  • Blade Revisited
  • Blade II
  • Blade II Revisited
  • Blade Trinity
  • Blade Trinity Revisited
  • Anibladetrix
  • Roots of Blade
  • Vampire Brawls
  • Whistler's Archive

Oh the Horror!

buckee1 12-03-04 05:02 PM

Whatever they issue, I am so there! Can't get enough of Blade! The 11 minute longer version sounds very interesting. Darker is always better!

When a studio released two different versions of a movie, why can't they sell a 2 pack? For Example: "Blade Trinity - Theatrical Edition / Blade Trinity - Directors Cut" DVD 2-Pack.

Well if they ever re-release all 3 films in a box set than they better have DTS in every film otherwise forget it. ;)

QuiGonJosh 12-03-04 06:50 PM

This is a Matrix joke people. Blade II Revisited!?! Am I the only one that got it?

tek2k 12-03-04 06:51 PM

people got it, they just didn't care.
matrix jokes are old and busted.
if you don't like the matrix, why keep talking about it?

Duh. We all know Mike's listing is a Matrix joke. Just no one cares to comment on it, instead focusing on the possibility of a director's cut, which isn't a joke. Not sure the point of relating the two together, but whatever.

Same here!

Sounds good. I just hope they include a DTS ES track like the one on Blade II.

One of the best audio tracks of all time. No matter what you think of the film, this audio track kicks major tuchas.

I'm just happy he's given us warning about another release

This part really is from the Digital BIts...

Blade was good, Blade 2 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

mzupeman2 12-03-04 11:41 PM

I just don't get it. Lord Of The Rings where the movies were 3 hours long, I understand that. They needed to cut stuff to keep the film length wise, as theater friendly as possible. But what's the excuse for Blade with only keeping out 11 minutes with the darker and probably the better of the endings? When the movie isn't in theaters and a director is already telling us he's gonna milk the hell out of this movie on DVD, it's really something that's getting out of hand. Such as the Spiderman 2.5. Raimi didn't really want the extra footage, but Sony insists on an extended cut for more money anyway. Complete trash. Going back to restore films to the way the director wanted them is one thing.... keeping an already confirmed director's cut out of the theaters and announcing it for DVD before the movie is even in the movie theaters, is just taking it a step too far and unfortunately, becoming way too common.

UKingdom and vasb saw the alternate ending at a test screening.

The darker ending for Blade III...
Spoiler:
Blade had to kill himself to kill Dracula by mixing his blood with the anti-vampire-virus, so he dies but Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel will continue to fight vampires. I guess Blade dying really didn't fly with test audiences so they changed it. Look for the original ending on the DVD

Dracula as a "parting gift" morphs into Blade right before he dies. So when the cops find his body they think they found Blade. He only morphs back when they are about to start an autopsy.

Extented versions of ALL 3 Blade Films??

There is noise over ar IGN of Extented versions of Both Blade, Blade II and Blade Trinity will have 11-minute longer version with a darker alternate ending

Movies are cut like this all the time, whether it be from poor test screening reactions, or studio decisions. If anything, i'd say if it wasn't for DVD we would never see these alternate endings or deleted scenes. While i'd definitely love to see both versions included on one disc (like Butterfly Effect), in the end i don't really mind. For the most part, i can evaluate whether the extra footage is worth another buy. It sucks paying more money, but before DVD there really wasn't even the luxary of seeing different cuts of films.

Would I lie to you all?

And yes, it's a Matrix joke, but hey it could happen. I can possibly see a 2-disc re-issue of Blade I in a 3-movie box set.

I take it you haven't seen many movies.

speedyray 12-04-04 04:57 PM

I know it was a joke, but I would buy a Blade 10 disc set if it was reasonable - around 50 like the Matrix set. I don't know where they would find that much extra stuff though. a six or seven disc set would be more realistic.

majorjoe23 12-04-04 05:01 PM

Anibladetrix would have been funnier.

marioxb 12-05-04 08:49 AM

It would be funny if they released alternate versions in the theater. In theater 1, Blade Trinity. In theater 2, Blade Trinity Director's Cut with scenes not shown in Theater 1. Of course sometimes they release director's cuts to theaters years after the original releases (Star Wars, Alien, ET) but I don't think it's ever been done at the same time.
