DVDs for a 3 year old.. (help)
Hi all..
My nephew is 3 and has really got into watching videos/dvds lately.. and with christmas coming up i'd really appreciate if some parents could recommend me some dvds to buy him for christmas :) I know he's into bob the builder.. and Tweenies and things like that. But he doesn't have much Disney.. What would you recommend for someone his age? Thanks alot! |
I think Lion King would be a safe bet for a boy toddler. The other would be Toy Story; however, that would cost more.
The Wiggles were a hit in my house.
Iron Giant
My 3 year old son is obsessed with Spongebob Squarepants. That's all he ever wants to watch.
The Wiggles
spongebob, definitely, he's at the age where he'd love it.
Ive chosen a couple of dvds now.. thanks all :)
There's three volumes currently available of this great cartoon called Happy Tree Friends. ;)
Toy Story might be pretty good for him.
Wiggles, ViggieTales, and Disney stuff should do.
Harold and the Purple Crayon, perhaps?
The Dora series would be nice also for learing
The kids videos that rent most at my video store are the Scooby-Doo DVDs, without a doubt.
Magic School Bus does quite well too. |
Originally posted by ShagMan spongebob, definitely, he's at the age where he'd love it. Heck, I'm at the age where I love it. I got Seasons 1 & 2 for my kids for Christmas and I'm looking forward to opening them more than they would (if they knew they were getting them ;)) Back on topic....Don't forget Monsters, Inc. & A Bug's Life. My nephew throws a fit if he sees someone take those DVD's out of the player. Also, you might want to consider Thomas the Tank Engine DVD's. They were a staple in my family. |
My 3-year-old daughter's favorite DVD of the moment is Shrek 2.
I'm not a parent, but I would recommend My Neighbor Totorro.
My NOW four-year-old nephew has been pretty into DVDs since he was two. He always loves Spongebob, Bob the Builder, and used to love The Wiggles. Believe it or not, he can never get enough of anything Spider-Man or of Batman: The Animated Series. My one year old nephew always stays glued to Shrek and Shrek 2, anytime it's playing. He will sit there for HOURS.
I have a 3 and 4YO and they enjoy veggietales, Sesame Street DVDs, everything Pixar has done to date, Little People, Baby Einstein, Osmosis Jones, Rugrats, Iron Giant, Leap Frog Letter Factory, math circus, Boobah, Bob the builder, Dragontales, Shreks 1&2 & Bear in the big blue house
Those Boohbahs are bizarre, someone was tripping when they came up with them.
My son [just turned two] doesn't watch much tv, but when he does, he likes the Wiggles and Dora the Explorer [actually he loves Dora]. He never got into Baby Einstein, but he does like the sample clip of Curious Buddies that's on his Dora dvd [we rented one of the CB dvd's from netflix, and it was cute, but they're too short and they're aimed younger than him.] Harold and the Purple Crayon, Schoolhouse Rock? |
My daughter loves Austin Powers: Goldmember

There's a Red Dog one that kids seem to like....... Also, the Man Show.
My son is on his way to 3 and he LOVES
Scooby-Doo (animated and the movies) VeggieTales -- HUGE hit in my house The Muppets -- runs around saying muppets, muppets, muppets all day after watching a DVD of them. All good choices IMHO. Greg |
As much as I hate to recommend the FOX version of "My Neighbor Totoro", it is currently the only R1 version to get and it's fairly cheap. The movie itself though is a family classic. Not only will the 3-year-old enjoy it, I'd say that the whole family will enjoy it. It is going to be the 3-year-old's favorite. My wife and I gave a copy to our 3-year-old niece, and it is now her most watched movie/video.
Ahhh, you guys are too protective.
I'm getting my 3-year old son knee deep into the LOTR trilogy. Can't have enough orcs and balrogs. |
Yellow Submarine
