The Fantastic Films of Ray Harryhausen - Legendary Science Fiction Series

Question:

is this box just the movies or are there any other supplements for the films?

I saw this in wal-mart last week and wondered about it, I even scanned the price. What kind of quality are the movies? Good prints, OAR, etc?

I have some of these early shorts on some Catcom double feature discs. Can't wait to get nicely restored versions of these things! Thanks for the heads-up!

Ray Harryhausen: The Early Years Collection
You know, every year around this time, I start thinking that my DVD purchases will start to slow down for the coming year. After all, at some point, I'll have nearly 'everything' I want, right?

Then stuff like this gets released. There are companies out there that are EXPERTS at separating me from my money. Thanks for the link... I hadn't heard about this.

I hadn't heard about either until 2 months ago. They were going to have a book-signing for "An Animated Life" up in L.A. but they couldn't secure books from the publisher because of a legal entanglement. Ray went ahead and had the signing for anything you wanted to bring. He even started signing early. I had the book (he was delighted I brought it) and 3 DVD covers. They also had a stack of cardboard fliers that advertised "The Early Years". He signed those also. He was a trooper even though he's getting on in years.

A picture of 2 Jennifers.

The one on the left is my daughter. When they brought out the one on the right, Ray said "Is that Jennifer?" There were several ape armatures created for Mighty Joe Young and he named his favorite one "Jennifer".

Have you seen it yet? If not (and for others who haven't) you're in for an absolute treat! Very highly recommended! It's coffee table size so you'll know you got it if it's wrapped

For anyone that's interested, Tulips Shall Grow with Ray Harryhausen (uncredited) as chief animator isn't on the new disk, but is on The Puppetoon Movie (which is pretty cool overall). I got mine at Overstock.com for about $9.00 shipped.

Of course I'll be getting the new disk, but that doesn't include Tulips Shall Grow as far as I can tell.

Has anyone actually found Ray Harryhausen: The Early Years? I can't seem to find it online, except at Amazon (which says "ships in 1-3 weeks"--I've had bad luck when it says that). So if you have it, where'd you get it?

No local store I visited had it....forgot to check Borders.

Just checked....no at Borders also. They can order it....but no stock.

I went ahead and ordered mine through Amazon. I doubt very much I'll have to wait anywhere near 3 weeks for it. This has happened before at Amazon with a few newer releases. I'll bet it arrives by next Monday or Tuesday.

Just checked for update. it says it will be shipping around Monday of next week and arrive Tuesday or the day after. I can wait.
