Un chien andalou is being produced on DVD by Transflux Films and distributed by Facets, on December 28th. Koch Lorber has bought the rights to Los Olvidados and plans to release it on DVD in 2005. No word on who owns the DVD rights to The Exterminating Angel/El Ángel exterminador or The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz/Ensayo de un crimen. On VHS, they were released by Hen's Teeth Video and Water Bearer, respectively. That said, most of us expect that Criterion's next Buñuel releases will be the two films which Rialto released theatrically, The Milky Way/La Voie lactée and The Phantom of Liberty/Le Fantôme de la liberté. Criterion also controls the rights to Tristana. These three could also make a nice box set. |
