Seinfeld - Widescreen Version??
 

This may be a stupid question. But I don't want to make a mistake before purchasing the Seinfeld volumes.

Does Seinfeld (Seasons 1, 2 & 3) come in the Anamorphic widescreen version. I was able to spot only the Foolscreen version at stores. Is this the only version? Thanks.

I suppose the opposite is to hate "widescreen snobs" who insist on owning the widescreen version of a TV show that was originally done in fullscreen. LOL!

wait, i wasnt the one asking the question. i was answering. i like films that are in oar, widescreen, fullscreen it dosnt matter as long as its what the director wanted me to see

This might be the most unwarranted application of the term "foolscreen" in history.

I feel robbed when when I get pillar-boxing while watching HD broadcasts - why aren't all HD broadcasts done in 16:9? ... AS THEY SHOULD BE - this has to be the slowest advancement of adoption of technology going

True HD programming is 16:9. The 4:3 pillarboxed programs you're seeing are upconverted standard-def content. Not everything aired on an HD channel is actually HD.

Yet another shining example where one person could have easily answered his/her question with "This is TV/FullScreen Only" without having to resort to being a typical jackass.

silly questions lead to silly answers. I think the whole mentality of WS is always better is silly. OAR is indeed the way to go. If, by chance, it ends up that FS is the OAR, then you really can't argue with that.

4x3 is the only version. No widescreen. There is only 1 option. No decision to be made for screen size.

It's only foolscreen if it wasn't filmed or originally aired that way.

Exactly. The only important thing is OAR. It was bad enough that we had to deal with a large percentage of the public thinking that fullscreen was best because they want their TV screen filled. Now, we have a problem with people that think that 1.85:1 widescreen is best because they want their HDTV screen filled. It never ends! :lol: Neither one is "best", it depends on the original aspect ratio of the source material!

I gotta admit I harbor a secret love for 185:1 for just that reason :)

Well ER debuted in 94 and they planned ahead and filmed it in widescreen.

But I agree that this is a silly thread.

There is a reason to think this; for several seasons, the end credits included the phrase "Filmed in Panavision", not with Panavision equipment, but IN Panavision. Anybody know why the credits phrased it that way?

They shoot the show on film and it is converted to video for broadcast.

Tons of films have this mistaken credit.

If it was actually filmed in Panavision the show would have an aspect ratio of 2.35:1, not 1.85:1.
