is Wild at Heart uncut?
I saw the SE out early at Sam Goody and noticed the R rating on the packaging.
Does anyone know if this will be the uncut versionwhere the decapitation sequence is not obscured? A nice widescreen version of the uncensored release has aired on IFC before. I hope that is the print MGM is using. The P&S version aired on the other cable channels also featured the uncut decapitation. But the old R rated video and laserdisc release had it obscured. |
uncut. 100% approved by david lynch.

Perhaps it was resubmitted to the MPAA to take advantage of the post-Tarantino levels of acceptable film violence. Violence-wise it isn't any worse than a hard R today.

No since no new listing/rating info is listed on filmratings.com
So it is just another magically 'fake' R rated dvd;) I was just making sure. Since while MGM releases some uncensored versions with a 'fake' rating on the packaging(fake since the verision was never resubmitted and officially rated). They have released a few censored versions only like Death Wish 2 and Dream Lover(which was available uncut on VHS & laserdisc!). I do agree it could pass uncut with an R today(the decap is literally only a couple seconds anyway),unless the even more grotestque footage(Stantons original death scene) were included. But sadly Lynch doesn't like deleted footage being scene after being cut. Which is a shame, since Don May found the longer print a couple years ago in a vault somewhere. |
mike dunn reviewed the new DVD on his lynchnet.com website, it was also posted at the dugpa.com website. though it doesnt mention it in the review, this is what he wrote on the message board regarding this DVD...
"The haze is present on the new dvd as well. They even discuss it in the making of section. It was added to allow an R rating from the MPAA." |
Well that sucks, especially after seeing its splattery outrageousness on cable!!!! :(
|
That's bad news :( I've already canceled my pre-order, too many dvds to buy to spend $$$ on censored ones.
|
That sucks but this is still a nice package. I'll be picking it up and putting it right next to my "blurred" Mulholland Drive DVD.

Too bad Blue Underground couldn't release it. :(

While this is not good news, I suppose we are lucky to have a Reg1 release at all to throw on the old LYNCH shelf. Life is too short and Lynch's films too great to let a little blur get in the way of enjoying his work.
I am truly torn on this one as I have been anticipating this release for some time. Anyone have any info on other Reg releases of WAH? |

The smoke effect adds an interesting texture and is consistent with the movie's recurring themes of smoking and fire. I prefer the smoky version, IMO. |
