a little help

a couple of quick questions from a beginner if someone has the time...

1) I want to get an external DVD burner (as I only have a laptop), any recommendations on what I should get? and why?

2) My friend said it can be hard to backup your dvd collection if you have bought PV blockbuster DVDs or rentals, is this true? He said you need some kindof hard-to-find program. Is this correct?

You can email answers to [email protected]

Thanks for your time.

You should try throwing this thread up in the Tech Talk forum instead. That's the crowd to go to for hardware/software advice.

Answer to question 1. Look into getting a Plextor DVD burner. Very reliable and have few problems. I have a 708A in my 4.5 year old Dell and it burns everything I throw at it. However I would consider getting the new PX-716UF which is an external drive and can burn up to 16X. Here is a link with more information.

Answer to second question. Shouldn't be any different then any other DVD. DVD Shrink and Nero are the only software needed.
