The Warriors 25th Anniversary Edition?

Has anyone heard anything about a new version of The Warriors to commemerate the film's 25th anniversary? The current one is bare-boned and just waiting for an upgrade.

I saw a thread about this a few weeks ago, but since searching this site is useless, you probably won't find it.

It was mentioned that Walter Hill had just recorded a commentary track for the new upcoming se in 2005. So it appears to be coming.

I just remembered I posted in that thread, so I was able to easily find it, otherwise forget it!

It mentions he was interviewed for the upcoming se, whether it was just an interview or commentary, who knows. Here's the thread link: Warriors SE 2005 rumor

It took me forever to get my hands on the current one, but I'd definitely be interested in an SE.

I'm all over it if they release this.

So, why'd you kill Cyrus?

I dunno, I just like doing things like that.

Warriors? I've never heard of this film, what's it about?

Mondo Kane 11-20-04 01:32 PM

Ooooh Maaaan!

Anybody who knows my track record here knows that I've been dying for a SE of one of my most favorite movies ever. I even laid down my wish list for it's special features in this thread:

I'd definitely buy an SE of this. Paramount would be smart to coincide a SE DVD of the original with the theatrical release of the upcoming remake.

gutwrencher 11-20-04 06:16 PM

I'll upgrade for sure. just watched the current dvd last week....for about the 10th time.

Mountain Biker 11-20-04 08:46 PM

One of my all-time favorite movies - can't wait!

mrhan 11-21-04 12:03 AM

If it's true I hope they include the scenes that were on the televised version.

areacode212 11-21-04 01:01 PM

This was one of the first DVDs I ever bought, and I'd gladly double-dip for a new version.

By the way, some of you Warriors fans may enjoy seeing pics from this year's Warriors Halloween party in Brooklyn, where people dressed up as their own made-up gangs.

BJacks 11-21-04 01:07 PM

I just saw this for the first time recently at the Pioneer Theater in NYC. Hilarious stuff, especially since they take the same train that I do.

tacomantt 11-21-04 01:43 PM

The Brooklyn Fury's

young 11-21-04 02:32 PM

lol, yeah, people were a bit concerned w/ gangs back then... who knew they'd go legit? :p

well, i have the older version, and that's good enough for me. good movie.

joliom 11-21-04 03:15 PM

A Warriors SE? I can definitely dig it. I don't know about the remake though. Tony Scott directing? I'd say that's as good a death warrant as if Freddie Prinze Jr. was starring as Swan. He's way wrong for a movie like this. David Fincher would have been my choice.

nightmaster 11-21-04 03:48 PM

I'm not much interested in a remake. The first time I ever saw this movie was as the second feature at a drive-in so I've been a fan for a loooooong time. I haven't done any looking around for a better DVD version, have any other regions gotten a better one to date?

wm lopez 11-22-04 02:49 AM

Yeah, THE WARRIORS back when gangs settled things face to face none of this hip-hop drive-by killing innocent 10 yr. olds like today.
