Apparently "Rejected" is good, but it is animated.

I like all of the Director's Label stuff, which has an abundance of short film.

I personally like the Brakhage: Anthology (Criterion) and Animatrix DVD's.

I know this is the Region 1 section, but if you have region free capabilities Jam Films from Japan is pretty good. I think Jam Films II is coming out soon over there (or may be out already).

There is a DVD series of short films called Short. I have several of these and have enjoyed them.

If you do a search at DVDPRICESEARCH.com for "Short", you'll find all 11 volumes on page #2.

There is also Fangoria's Blood Drive DVD.

I second Tarantino's nod for the Animatrix, but I caution you to avoid Tromadance Vol.3, as "Dribble" is the only worthwhile short on the dvd.

Monster Legacy Collection. Those films are a hair over an hour, usually.

If you haven't seen it, the short claymation called "More" is really amazing. You might be able to find it at the word periphery possibly followed by a period then the abbreviation org.

Also, 9-11 Redux (from www.gnn.tv) is an absolutely amazingly scored/presented short doc/news/music video, and the DVD it's on has a bunch of other (not as good) shorts on it.

If you're multizoned, any of the Australian Tropfest finalist DVDs is worth a look:

The Sharktank Redemption, which is available on disc 2 of the new The Shawshank Redemption SE (non-anamorphic though, wtf?).

Id love to find some of the short films Ive seen on Cinemax in the past. Sharktank was one of the ones Ive seen there...another was one titled "Zoe Loses It" starring Amanda Peet which for some reason has been deleted from the IMDb...another is "The Quality of Mercy" starring Mary Louise-Parker, where she played a vengeful Broadway actress out to kill her biggest critic. "Pearl Harbor II: Pearlmageddon" was kinda funny too....yeah definitely nothing award-winning but still great stuff.

Actually I just found I can get "Zoe Loses It" from customflix.com...nice.
