Maybe it isn't so much that we're forgiving, but that we have a different opinion than you do. You know that's possible, right?

well clearly you are the authority on whether a movie is good or not -rolleyes-

This movie was hilarious. Will Ferrel is the perfect man with arrested development!

The story was a little weak near the ending, but it usually is for comedies. All and all a 4/5 stars.

I absolutely enjoyed this movie, didn't think it would be as good as it was. The extras are awesome and the running time was just right.

Sappy, yes, but I love sap towards this time of year. Pick this up or at least give it a rental.

Is your 11-year old Jewish?
Sorry, but I feel this warrants a response. I suppose that b/c I am Jewish, I am not supposed to (or not allowed to) enjoy Christmas movies. Obviously that is erroneous.

With respect to Elf, my wife and I enjoyed it in the theater and have it on DVD.

I really enjoyed this. The ending couldn't hold up as well as the rest of the movie, but for the most part it was very enjoyable. Will Ferrell can play a great fish-out-of-water. He's just hilarious.

Those cheesily-animated creatures/snowmen in the North Pole reminded me of those Davey and Goliath shows. :)

I usually hate animated DVD menus, but this disc has some of the best ones.

No, she's not. It's really very simple. This supposed blockbuster comedy just generated zero laughs in our house. -rolleyes-

Lastblade 11-21-04 01:35 PM

Bought it blinded, and really enjoyed it. Ferrell had that innocent/stupid act going all the way and he made me laugh with his expression and antics!

devynal 11-21-04 01:39 PM

Bought it blindly and enjoyed it. Found that it had less comedy than mainstream Christmas comedies, but it still carries that edge that will make it a holiday tradition to watch every year.

Eh, different strokes for different folks.

I thought it was great, although if you look at my collection you'll find that I find a lot of movies great that many people think are stinkers.

Although, I do find it odd that there wasn't even a smile when the Narwhal popped up...

I still thought that this was a great movie even if I wasn't in it.

Not only posted it twice but they are her only post since joining in May 2002.

I thought I was a lurker.

I saw this last year and enjoyed quite a lot, so I'm excited for my DVD to come in the mail. It'll be fun to show to my nieces and nephews over the holidays too.

Movie_Man 11-22-04 11:30 AM

Saw this over the weekend as a rental. Well worth the rental, but wouldn't buy it. I laughed at the references to the old Christmas specials.

That's the only reason I'm keeping this DVD around. The movie wasn't funny enough for me to sit through it a second time all by myself, but when I have the youngins over I'll probably play it again for them.

They'll go bananas for this shit, I'm sure.

I'm very surprised not as many people like this as I thought. Ferrell is amazing in this... had me laughing so hard in so many parts. To each his own.
