I recently went back and saw the movie Police Story. It reminded me of how much I liked kung-fu action movies. Are their any movies in particular that you reccomend.

A good place to start is. . . . Jackie Chan. Here are some great Jackie Chan films to see if you have not. .
Wheels on Meals
Heart of Dragon
Drunken Master (the old first one)
Legend of the Drunken Master (part 2)
Snake in Eagle Shadow
Young Master
Those are some of my favorite Chan films. Here's a few other quick suggestions. .
Shaolin Soccer
Chinese Super Ninja
Romeo Must Die
These are some of my favorites. I suggest you check out SHAW BROTHERS films. They are all old but some of the best kung fu movies. They have the oldstyle kung fu action ever.

Are you into Kung-fu in a modern setting or one that takes place in the past?
If you enjoy the silly humor then i can recommend the "Lucky Stars" movies.
some others i have found over the years:
"Millionaires Express" (Sammo)
Fong Sai Yuk - "The Legend" here in the US (There is a part 2 but i don't own it I wish i did though)
Project A (Jackie).
Most of my HK collection IS Jackie stuff but you can never go wrong with Sammo Hung/Yuen Biao stuff either (im my experience).

Instead try the Fox/Fortune Star releases. They are cheap and contain original and dubbed versions of the movies and for the most part, their presentation are excellent. Here is the link for the existing thread:

Personally my fav JC movie is Miracles, the "rope factory" fight is one of his best. Next would be the "sticks and ladders" fight in First Stike, although overall the movie isn't one of his best. Dragon Lord has some very creative sequences as well including what is essentially hacky-sack soccer and I believe that's the one that put JC in the book of world records as the most takes for a single shot regarding a sequence in the "fan fight".
Regarding other movies you may enjoy (although most don't have the humor of JC movies) 2000AD, Downtown Torpedoes, Shaolin Soccer, Tokyo Raiders just to name a few. Overall though I second chente's suggestion to check out the Int'l forum if you haven't already.

I think the guys wan't recommendatinos on good movies & good DVDs, not just a great flick but a crappy DVD release.
My recommendation is Master Of The Flying Guillotine. One of my all-time favorites w/ one of the all-time great weapons in any Kung Fu flick. The DVD has a very good transfer as well as an informative commentary.

For Kung Fu movies, there is only ONE way to go - region free. Not for the HK imports, strangly enough - but for the UK releases from Hong Kong Legends. These guys are Da Bomb, restoring the prints the best they can (and some of these older movies are in sad shape), loading up with commentary and makings of, and trailers, trailers, trailers. The discs will run a touch high - 25-30 bucks per movie - but it's well worth it.

HKL is great. I have their disk of Chinese Ghost Story and plan to pick up Iron Monkey pretty soon.
I'm also really digging the Celestial Shaw Brothers R3 disks with stuff like 36th Chamber of Shaoilin, Shaolin Temple, The Five Venoms, 8 Diagram Pole Fighter.

I only have a couple of the domestic Shaw Brothers discs - and even those craptacular discs are worth it. The R3 discs I imagine rock the house.
They're on my short list of discs to get for sure.

Sounds a little like Armour of the gods (or Operation Condor 2 if you're talking about the US version). It does start w/ a jungle scene and he does fight some pretty butch "women" at the end. One is not really connected w/ the other though.

i'd recommend a thai flick called Ong Bak, not exactly kung fu, but great action, great stunts that are truly jaw-dropping!
yeah, not much of a story or plot, but man oh man are the stunts great!
and another good one is Fist of Legend, Jet Li's best film (IMO). bone crunching!

Try not to get the Buena Vista/Miramax versions (can't remember who's the studio) but although they have good image and sound, their versions are edited and dubbed for the "Legend" and "Project A"

The rest are either movies that had a good release here (The Fox discs you mentioned) or movies i cannot afford to get in the orginal language right now (Project A 1+2, Fong Sai Yuk 2)
If anyone is willing to part with Fong Sai Yuk 2 at a cheap price or reasonable trade......
I do wish i could afford that new Project A boxset
