Ever have non-buyer's remorse?

Example: Awhile back, before I had stumbled upon DVDTalk and knew anything about dvds, I was in a second-hand store that had a few dvds on the shelf. I remember picking up one, "The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Criterion Collection," and thinking, $5, eh, not for a blind-buy.

Just went back to the same store recently and I'm still kicking myself for letting it slip away.

Anyone else pass up a deal because you didn't have the money/didn't know it was a deal until it was too late?

My local EB had a copy [used, great condition] of the Masterpiece edition of Alice in Wonderland for like 7-8 bucks, I wish I had picked it up for that price.
That's the only one I can think of offhand [I assume you're limiting this to DVD purchases, since it's in the DVDT thread.]

Yep all the time, especially with some DVDs going up and down in price all the time.

I wish I'd bought The Killer when it came out. But at the time, I'd just gotten a DVD player, didn't know anything about Criterion, and I was thinking "30 bucks for a movie, it'll come down so I'm not paying that."

Woops.

Just for OOP DVDs, or DVDs that are harder to find. Chances are if you wait on any other DVDs, the prices will drop eventually.

not really...at least that I can think of. I usually snatch up what I want asap to avoid being depressed later. besides...theres always a way to get a dvd that you maybe passed up before. if you really want it...I mean really want it.....you'll get it.

2 Times

ONce was a VHS of the movie "Dudes" back in 1995. The VHS was at Pick'n'save at $2.99 (now its like $80 at ebay).

The Second was when I Saw "Sex and the City: The Story so far" (seasons 1-3) This was before I bought TV-on-DVD (its now my favorite genre) but my Walmart had that set for $40.

I was in my local second hand movie store and they had The "Ultimate Mummy Edition" for about 10 bucks. Super pissed now that I didnt get it since I realized its out of print.Luckily I was able to snag a copy on ebay last week but still ended up paying quite a bit.

I kick myself every day for not getting the Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie when i'd see it on the shelf everytime i went to Suncoast. I'd always have it in my hand and then i'd see something else and decide i'd get MST3K next time...it's not going anywhere. sigh.

I saw a copy of Fletch at a Best Buy store (new, $14.99) within the past month or so. For some reason, I didn't buy it.

When I realized what a mistake that was, I went back, but it was no where to be found.

One purchase that slipped through my fingers was the Criterion version of Silence of the Lambs around four years ago. "I had it in my hands," as Indiana Jones would lament to Marcus.

I had $50 in store credit to blow at Suncoast, and not realizing the value or potential value of the said DVD, I ended picking up The Matrix and the bare bones edition of Donnie Brasco (the special edition version hadn't existed at this point).

I wanted to get Flash Gordon back in 98/99 when it was still in print, once it was out then I decided to get it and had to pay $30 for it in 2001. Should have bought it when i first saw it.

I had seen The Silence of the Lambs Criterion at FYE every time I went there. Especially during Hannibal's run at the box office they were on display. I never bought it and glad I didn't, because I was able to get a used copy for $15 through the Treasure Chest thread in the Exchange Forum. Thank you! The only DVD I sorta regret is not picking up the Criterion edition of Playtime. I know it will be re-released but I'd still like to see the movie.

Not buying Toy Story 1 and 2 when it was available. This was before I knew about Disney's movies being discontinued and all that. Now I buy each Disney movie I want right when it comes out, which sadly is exactly what they want me to do.

Definately when BB had Toy story 1 & 2 for $20. Or even when they had it for $30.

Also copies of Disney Treasures especially Mickey and Goofy

However, I have had a couple of good unexpected finds. Like the Fantasia Anthology at EB for $15!

I kick myself for not ordering the Freaks and Geeks Ultimate Yearbook Set.

And for only purchasing one copy of "The Killer," "Hard Boiled," and "This Is Spinal Tap"

Mine comes on Dec. 26th.

Around now I pass on titles I want to add them to my Christmas list. (In Living Color, Marx Bros Silver collection, SCTV Season 2, etc) Obviously I don't get them all, so I have ta go buy them for more then "release Tuesday" price later.

If I'm lucky, I've received a few GCs...but still...

I used to see Disney's Tarzan 2 Disc set at my local Wal-Mart all the time and passed it up every time. Wish I had bought it.

UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS is one of my biggest remorses. I can't tell you how many times I picked up both the Criterion and the MGM, only to put it down saying "I'll get it next time". Now it is out of print and quite expensive.

And FLETCH is out of print???? Again, I've picked that up countless times and always said "Next time". I will have to see if I can find it now. Just saw it a couple weeks ago.

And all the early Criterions (SPINAL TAP, THE KILLER etc) I remember seeing in the early days of DVD, back when I was still buying laserdiscs thinking DVDs wouldn't last so I didn't get them.

When The Car came out on DVD I bought it for my sister as a xmas gift and told myself eventually I'd buy myself one. I procrastinated for so long the damn thing went out of print! I finally caved in last week and bought one off ebay, which cost me nearly double what I paid for my sister's copy
