Exorcist: The Beginning - Jan 4th?

A contact of mine hints this is the release date. No details tho.

Rammsteinfan 11-09-04 09:38 AM

If it doesnt have BOTH versions, I'll pass.

Apocrypha 11-09-04 09:58 AM

I am really curious to see Paul Schrader's version that was tossed. It will probably be available as a seperate disc entirely and is most likely superior to Renny Harlin's remake.

From what I've heard thus far, it's basically a done deal that the DVD will have both versions of this film. I'd pass otherwise as well.

bboisvert 11-09-04 01:27 PM

Agreed. I'll do a blind buy if it has both versions. Otherwise, I'll skip it and maybe catch it on cable at some point down the road...

I thought I read somewhere that this release is the theatrical version only, and the other version would be released separately later next year?

I hope not, as the theatrical version wasn't too great.

(though I'll be buying it anyway to complete the set)

Same here. I've already seen the Theatrical version, and it was nothing worth owning.

typecase 11-09-04 05:01 PM

I hope both versions are included. It'd be a great marketing decision on their part to have be the only DVD with two seperate versions of the same film in the same package. I'm also hoping against hope that there is some deleted scenes with Izabella Scorupco nekkid, which would have at least made the theatrical version worth the price of admission. :D

edit: spelling

Cameron 11-29-04 01:57 PM

any update or confirmation

TomOpus 11-29-04 05:48 PM

I don't think any official has been announced. Maybe they're working on how to present both versions in one release... I hope I hope I hope :)

typecase 11-30-04 08:13 PM

It looks like our hopes are dashed .... the Digital bits announced that it looks like it will be released on 3/1/05 with only Renny Harlin's version. While not confirmed, this would be really disappointing news. Sometimes I have to wonder if Anna Nicole Smith is running these studios :grunt:

Geofferson 12-01-04 08:24 AM

That's a damn shame. :(

ianholm 12-01-04 08:28 AM

I'll rent this out of curiosity.

roger_d 12-01-04 09:08 AM

I'll wait till they come come out with the Paul Schrader's version. You know they will.

bboisvert 12-01-04 09:24 AM

No 2 versions = no sale

TomOpus 12-01-04 10:04 AM

That blows goats... I'll wait.

Geofferson 12-01-04 10:17 AM

Looks like it's confirmed. DVDAnswers has the 1-disc cover art here.

:grunt:

Gil Jawetz 12-01-04 10:47 AM

So lame. Having both versions would make this a really unique release that I might have picked up just to be able to watch btoh versions etc... (plus like Schrader) but of course they'll screw it up.

I'm sure a 2 disc edition will hit eventually.

Josh Z 12-01-04 12:07 PM

They might as well bring back the friggin' snapper cases just for this movie while they're at it, if they're intent on making this the most useless DVD ever.

Anybody that doesn't believe this isn't already in the works needs an exorcism of their own. It's the perfect opportunity for one of WB's 2 disc digipack sets. It'll fit right alongside Casablanca, Citizen Kane and all the other classics :)

QuiGonJosh 12-01-04 05:48 PM

least the covers pretty cool...

bboisvert 12-01-04 05:51 PM

Yeah, it'll look great on the shelf at Best Buy. Which is where I'll leave it. ;)
