DVD Talk Legend & 2019 TOTY Winner
Thedigitalbits says the first will be an SE
a Karate Kid Collection Box Set (featuring Karate Kid: Special Edition, Karate Kid II, Karate Kid III and Next Karate Kid) but I'm sure we'll have to buy a box set of 3 crappy sequels to get the overdue SE assuming the SE is WS
typical Columbia
[edit]Mao beat me to it, Hey if the SE is on it's own DVD and own case then I'll buy the box and sell the crap but still this sucks,

DavisDVD has some info as well as the cover art:
Judging by the art, if it is a 3 disc set, Karate Kid III and Next Karate Kid will probably share a disc.
Sony Home Entertainment will release a couple of three-disc boxed sets on February 1st. Look for the Look Who's Talking DVD Collection and The Karate Kid Collection, each featuring the films in their respective series. Of interest however is the latter collection which includes a brand new special edition of the first Karate Kid (and only available in the set). This disc will feature a new commentary track (with director John Avildsen, writer Robert Kamen and stars Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita), "The Way Of The Karate Kid": making-of documentary, the "Life Of Bonsai" featurette, "Beyond the Form" feature with karate trainer Pat Johnson and "East Meets West: A Composer's Notebook with Bill Conti." No word yet if it also will come with a new anamorphic transfer. Retail is $39.95 and $44.95.

I don't like the fact that they announced all of these bonus features but make no mention as to whether the KK dvd will be anamorphic widescreen. Whats with that?

The artwork isn't great
I don't like the artwork on 1 or 2. I really wish they had just used the original covers that were on the VHS(they did for III and "Next Karate Kid" which was strange). A Special Edition with no Anamorphic Widescreen, sadly would equal no sale for me.
I also have another question. If they did put Karate Kid III on one side of the Disc, and "The Next Karate KiD" ON THE OTHER,wouldn't that take away from the picture quality?
I wish they would just release a 4-Pack if they were going to do this, and let III and "Next Karate Kid" have their own respective discs.
I will wait til DDD Big 20% off Summer sale and grab it then...ONLY IF Karate Kid I is remastered in Anamorphic Widscreen with 5.1. Otherwise....no sale!!!!!!!!

I cannot conceive the stupidity of releasing this with the same horrendous transfer. I think it is pretty safe to say that the 1st disc will be anamorphic OAR.

Wel hopefully that's just the art for the set. Maybe the individual discs will have the original art. I hope so otherwise I'll have to make a few customs.

I don't see why it wouldn't be in widescreen, since 2 and 3 were released that way already. And why does anyone act like they'll be paying anywhere near $45 for this?
It'll be around $30 at Amazon, and just about everywhere else.

As long as Part 1 is in anamorphic widescreen, I'll bite the bullet and grab the set. Maybe the 3 sequels will be good viewing options when I'm drinking heavily with my friends. Btw, did anyone else bust out laughing just looking at the cover art for Part 2? Daniel all serious...poised for that devastating karate punch (delivered all off-balance and awkward like he's not really sure if it's a good idea to hit this guy or not). And actually, just the picture of Macchio wearing the headband is pretty priceless also. It's like he knows he's all Bruce Lee with the gear on. They should make a Karate Kid 5 where Macchio squares off against Hillary Swank in her Boys Don't Cry getup.

I think amazon has the wrong list prices for those sets:
Look Who's Talking DVD Collection
Karate Kid Collection
List Price they have is $36.96 each with their 30% off is $25.87 which = $23.28 with STL
By the way, STL on both of these with me, please!

Has anyone found the link that confirms that KK will in deed be anamorphic widescreen?
