Now I can give my sister my "The Man with No Name Trilogy" box set for Christmas. She's not anal enough to care whether or not they're the best version, and for some strange reason she loves these movies.
Oh yeah... BLONDIE!

There are some covershots up at play.com for the region 2 versions:
Hopefully the r1s will look better. The r2 GBU looked like this:
And it was not in a nice box like the r1 version, but in a plain looking digipack.

any release dates for R2...
not a fan of the cover art...hope it falls more in line with our TGTBATU
Or hey here is a concept...use the original posters.
Going to buy it no matter what the covers look like

I just hope they include the original mono tracks this time. I absolutely hated the new gunshots on the GBU dvd.

I noticed DVD Savant complaining about the gunshots on the Yakuza Papers films also - wasn't he part of the reason they changed the sound effects on the GBU SE? Not sure what his problem is with these sound effects - they sound fine to me.

They should have been changed back for the DVD release, but no...

I also hope they keep the original mono tracks on these releases.
I kept the original release of The Good The Bad & The Ugly for that very reason. Thankfully it was 16.9 enhanced and I can enjoy those cool sounding gun shots unlike on the extended release
I don't get the 'thin' excuse though. It 'may' have sounded 'thin' if they attempted to add directional pans for the effects. Yet if they left them as they originally are. They would play fine theatrically.
But I suspect the 'thin' excuse was they did not sound 'loud' or 'bassy' enough.

DavisDVD has a little bit more info on the specs:
Christopher Fraylings' remarks on the Once/West commentary was exactly what I wanted to hear. Thank god he's doing all three of these classics.
MGM Home Entertainment has announced the UK Region 2 re-releases of three Sergio Leone-directed spaghetti westerns, each fully restored and remastered to Dolby Digital 5.1. A Fistful of Dollars: Special Edition includes with an audio commentary with Sir Christopher Frayling, the Leone documentary "A New Kind of Hero," "The Lost Prologue" shot in the 1970's with Harry Dean Stanton, multiple featurettes ("A Few Weeks In Spain" Clint Eastwood on making the film, "Cinque Voci" friends remember Leone, "Not Ready for Primetime" Monte Hellman discussion on the prologue, "Restoration, Italian Style" John Kirk on restoring the film, "Location Comparisons" Intercutting film clips with current footage of locations shot to music), a rare double trailer for A Fistful Of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More, ten radio spots and a photo gallery.
For A Few Dollars More: Special Edition includes another audio commentary with Frayling, "A New Standard" documentary, featurettes ("Back For More" Eastwood taking about the sequel, "Tre Voci", "The Original American Release Version" on alternate scenes, "Restoration Italian Style," "Location Comparisons"), rare double bill trailer, radio spots and a photo gallery.
Finally, there's the long-awaited A Fistful of Dynamite: Special Edition. Also known as "Duck, You Sucker!" the disc includes a commentary with Sir Christopher Frayling, "The Myth Of Revolution" documentary, featurettes ("Sergio Donati Remembers," "Once Upon A Time In Italy" Leone at The Autry Exhibition, "Sorting Out The Versions," "Restoration Italian Style," "Location Comparisons"), the original trailer, radio spots and a photo gallery. Each two-disc set is due on April 18th and retails £19.99.
