My great love for the whole Joss Whedon Buffyverse is directly tied to the release of the series on DVD. I was in college and finishing up a year and a half ago or so and I was wanting to get into something new and Buffy had interested me some. Because of school and work, I had only seen an episode or two and of course, unless you're into it from the beginning, it doesn't make total sense. So when BB had a really cool buy all four of the first four seasons of Buffy and get $10 off each one deal, I bit and picked up all four at once. In retrospect, a pretty big blind buy. I completely adore the show and since then I've picked up seasons 5 and 6 of Buffy and all four of Angel and it's been a total blast.

I don't watch network TV or regular sitcoms (the reality show craze went right over my head) so I don't catch many series, but in the past few weeks I picked up Firefly and Buffy S1. Firefly is incredible. I figure I'll take a look at The Dead Zone and 24 later on.
I do think The Sopranos is great so I'll start accumulating those sets as well. As far as series I've always liked are concerned I've bought Sanford And Son, The A-Team, and Baretta.

I didn't like him or Inspector Morse for that matter. Neither series was interesting enough for me to watch more than one episode apiece.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force was good to my TV eyes, but after the DVD presentation, the regular airings jumped enormously.

Futurama really clicked with me when I had a full season at my disposal.

Kids In The Hall is much better uncut and constant

Mr Show -Sketch comedy at its absolute best

Samurai Jack -So glad I watched more then the 1 episode I downloaded. Great show. Brilliant aural presentation and visualization.

Sealab 2021: latter seasons were good. But the 1st season is nothing short of brilliant.

Sledge Hammer! -Ive seen in the way past, but never "clicked" til I aged futher than 10.

Sopranos -No HBO no Sopranos, and I now I have them, so there!

Spiderman '67 -what is camp? look no further

Space Ghost Coast to Coast -nothing short of Brilliant

Unwatched:
24 season 1
Millennium
Twin Peaks(saw some on original airing, looking forward to rest uncut)

I just picked up Arrested Development and it's one of my new favorite shows. I'd heard good things, but it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. So good infact, that for the first time since highschool, I watched a TV sitcom on Fox...that's right, the season premiere of it tonight.

Freaks and Geeks - the word of mouth was so good on this and I was so confident that I would enjoy it, that I bought the Yearbook Edition as a blind buy. After two eps, I KNEW I'd made the right decision. Well worth every single penny and now one of my favorite shows.

Stargate SG-1 - I tried, but couldn't get into the show on a couple of occasions watching random eps on tv. I finally gave it a go on DVD from the beginning and finally got hooked on it for good.

Alias - I missed the first half of season 1 and didn't want to read synopses to try to catch up on the show. So I bought the DVDs and had an absolute blast catching up. DVD is a great way to watch the show, too.

Curb your Enthusiasm I don't have HBO and I had never seen an episode until I bought the first two seasons during Amazon's December sale when they had season one and two for $17.99 each.
The Bob Newhart Show I had also never seen an episode of this classic show until a friend encouraged me to buy it and watch it.
Mr. Bean I had also never seen an episode of this either.

I had seen a couple of episodes of the following shows, but I gained a greater appreciation for them when I watched a whole season:
Reno 911!
Joan of Arcadia
Nip/Tuck
Night court
King of the Hill
Firefly

Like most, I don't have HBO, so things like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Six Feet Under, and Da Ali G Show (where's the second season of that, by the way?).

Also, I never would have seen The Office (UK version).

TV Shows you would have never discover if it wasn't for DVDs

I like British TV:
The Sandbaggers
Survivors (region 2 only for now)

I'd never caught Your Show of Shows or Caesar's Hour before DVD either.

Dark Angel: S1

Haven't watched yet:
The Shield: S1

Hope to buy eventually:
Farscape

Poirot is an excellent adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie mysteries and David Suchet does a superb job as Poirot. But whether you like it depends on whether you like British mysteries in general and Agatha Christie and her Poirot character in particular. If you have to ask the question, I'd suggest a rental first.

I seldom watch tv (no cable anymore) on tv, but lately I have been watching three of IMHO the best shows on tv on DVD for the first time. Sopranos (no HBO), the Shield (never watched for some reason) and Dead Zone (again never watched). These shows entrall me. When I get a season started I may watch it in 2 or 3 days. I also really enjoyed Greg the Bunny. I am looking foward to trying out Lost, Rescue Me and possibly Nip/Tuck. Almost all my other TV on DVD I had some knowledge of.

24 is my best blind buy.

I had started watching "Buffy" halfway through season 5 and was hooked on that show. So getting seasons 1-5 on DVD was a no brainer.

Alias-everyone said how great it was, but felt it was one of those shows you had to watch from the begininning. Rented from Netflix and bought all 3 seasons the next day.

Firefly
Wonderfalls-Since Fox kept moving this show around I missed the eps that were on tv, bought Wonderfalls when it came out on DVD, and fell in love. Too bad they canceled it.
