Will Whiteboyz (1999) ever be released on DVD?
 

Anyone hear about a possible release of Whiteboys on dvd? This movie is so funny. It is one of the last movies I have on VHS. I still have a vcr so I can watch this movie and a couple of others that haven't hit dvd yet. Danny Hoch is one funny motha f*%ker!

Yep...I wonder what's the hold up, a very funny movie that turns deadly serious near the end there. Also it's still very current.

One of my friends is in that movie. During the dream sequence she is the blonde laying on the car hood in a bikini. I also used to go to the bar they were in when they were in Iowa City. So ya I'd like the DVD just for that reason but I haven't heard anything.

I also hopes this gets a DVD release. Danny's other film, "Jails, Hospitals & Hip-Hop" was recently released on DVD. I got an e-mail from his producer a few weeks ago asking me to help promote this DVD.

I purchased the distribution rights to the film, Jails, Hospitals and Hip-Hop, which I also served as co-Executive Producer. The film has had substantial legal trouble in the past, but is finally free and clear to be released.

I am manufacturing a very small run of DVDs that we are selling exclusively through our website, www.jhhthefilm.com or www.amazon.com As we have next to no money for marketing and publicity, we are counting on those who have respect Danny's work in the past to help us get the word out to his fans that the film is now available.

I found it on Amazon with no picture, but I could not find it on the Fox website. Where do I go on the Fox website to find it?

Any confirmation on the full-screen info? I've been waiting for this one for years.

According to bestbuy.com, this will be a double sided DVD with one side dedicated to the widescreen version and the other side for the full screen version. I'm pretty sure this information is accurate since they have all the chapter selections listed as well.

Well, that's good to hear. I've been checking sites all week looking for confirmation. I even checked Best Buy's site, but never thought to type it as "White Boyz" considering that they still carry the VHS version and that comes up when you do a search for "Whiteboyz."

I couldn't find this DVD anywhere today. I went to Best Buy, FYE, Suncoast and Wal-Mart and none of them got any in stock. Even DDD and Digital Eyes don't list it.
Any of you able to find it?
I guess I'll just order it from Best Buy.

I was not able to find it anywhere today in NYC. I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, Suncoast, Blockbuster, HMV, Virgin, Tower Records, FYE etc. and none of them had in stock. As Dango said above most of the online retailers that I shop with like DDD and Digital Eyes do not even list it in their databases. Best Buy.com does say that it is available to order via the website but does say that there is no store availability. Meaning Best Buy has decided not to carry WHITEBOYZ at all at any of their retail outlets. I am going to write DDD and find out why it is not in their database, sometimes there are movies that are not in their databases, and then I call and ask for the dvd and they say that it is available to order. They are sometimes slow to list dvds that they indeed carry in their databases.

After checking with best buy, circuit city, and borders, I finally found it at Tower Records. They had 4 copies available and were priced at $14.99. Im glad to finally have this movie on dvd after patiently waiting for several years.

I e-mailed Digital Eyes last night and they got back to me this morning stating that they will talk with their distributors.
I've held off ordering it elsewhere cause I really wasn't sure if it was indeed released or not. Hopefully we'll hear from DDD and Digital Eyes real soon.
