What's Going on With Davis DVD and DVD File?

Two out of the four sites that I check on a daily basis for DVD updates have been down for weeks. They are Davis DVD and DVD File. The only sites still producing updates are this one and Digital Bits. Anyone heard anything about the status of DavisDVD and DVDFile? It's frustrating, because this is such an important time of the year for new release info, and they're missing the boat. Also, can anyone else recommend any other sites out there that offer info on upcoming DVD releases. There was a site called ComingSoon.net that I'd check into once in a while, but not for a long time.

I've always really liked Davis DVD in particular, and I hope everything is okay with them.

I gave up on 'file', dvdreview.com still has updates, but they've gone downhill too. Though I go there for updates, I never liked digital bits format.

Seriously, what a great site. It is now my second favorite dvd site, DVDTalk.com is still my number 1 :)

I hope Peter can get back to doing dvdfile... it has been my "homepage" for years...but i think i'm going to have to change it shortly if there are no updates soon.

DVDfile is useless now.

I just found DVDanswers. Seems to be a great site. I still like The Digital Bits and DVD Journal and of course DVD Talk.

Davis DVD is cool...they did bring early news no other websites did..like the info on the FREAKED DVD.

I enjoy DVDFile... i guess the lead dude has been busy with other projects. They did have an update a few days ago though.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on upcomingdiscs.com. I used to frequent there quite a bit up until a year or so ago. They used to have an interesting Q&A column, but the guy who did it left. Ever since then I have had no reason to go there. There news seemed to be not up-to-date.

Maybe it's changed since I gave up on it (let me know if it did!), but I'll take digitalbits.com or (of course) dvdtalk.com any day.

I'm still hopeful on DVDFile. That was the first site that I really got into with reference to DVD's (DVD Talk was soon discovered afterwards).

Thanks

Well, DavisDVD is back up, but I have to say that I'm not real impressed with the new design... looks really generic.

Home Theatre Forum. No offense, but it's much more informative than DVD Talk and all the other sites.

??? I still get the same DavisDVD page...

Hmmm the new DavisDVD site is interesting... Im sure after a while I will get used to it. Glad to see them back after so many weeks.

Andy/Garland, whether it's DVDTalk or Home Theater Forum, it's great to have forums like this where we not only see all the news in one place, but it's also like "the water cooler" where everyone chitchats about the news, too.

I agree that the new DavisDVD design is lacking. I guess he was taking time off to make the change.

DVDFile has had a note up for a while that Peter will be back sooner or later.

Frankly, I use Digital Bits and DVDAnswers and TVShowsOnDVD and ToonZone when I want new info first. AnimatedBliss & BoxSetBliss are worth visiting, too, because they get a few the others miss. IGN can be okay sometimes.

I guess I am particular, but I like to read sites that list:
1) Upcoming Title
2) MSRP
3) Special Features
4) release date
5) number of discs

all at the same time, so I can add them to my want list, which contains all this information. For some reason most sites have trouble with this, including dvdtalk -- you have to link to Amazon to find this out for each title on dvdtalks' coming soon page, which is incredibly tedious and half the time amazon doesn't have the special features up for preorders.

DVDFILE was the only one who did this (that I knew of) so now that they aren't updating, my want list looks like crap, with missing info all over it.

P.S. I knew something was up with dvdfile -- about a year ago i tried to email them -- i tried every siingle email address on their entire site, and not one of them worked (except their contest one, presumably).
