how is the commentary with Arnold and Paul, and the other extras on the SE?

commentary is good even though it is hard to understand.
starts out good with the tri-star logo:
Arnold: You zee dats me on de horse !
Dis is Arnold Schvarfzenger.

as for the other extras, there's a ton of trailers.
some virtual vacations which are pretty lame.
a really solid documentary.
and some making of storyboards.

the menus are awesome !!

what am I forgetting?

There is also another old release in a keep case (it was part of the "Schwarzenegger <sic> Box Set") Its probably the same as the snapper version (i.e. no extras, except I think a trailer or two). I recenlty got rid of it to upgrade to the special edition.

I put off double dipping because the Schwarzenegger Box cost me $80 back in the day and I had to double dip on 3 out of the 4 movies in it (all 4 if Commando is ever re-released). Well, I finally gave in to the hollywood double dip machine and broke up the set and sold it to dvdempire and then ordered all the double dips.

Yeah, I own the Arnold box (set me back $30 recently)...though I'll probably spend $5.50 to make the double-dip upgrade. Even if I bothered upgrading "The Running Man" and "Predator," I'd still keep the box for display purposes.

Another vote for the Babboons Ass tin.

Mr. Cinema 03-24-05 05:49 PM

Aren't they coming out with a "Total Recall: Ultimate Edition"?

Sorry for the thread resurrection but I'm thinking of buying this and I was wondering if the slipcover was a features any new art? Or is it exactly the same as the keepcase art, and on regular card stock (e.g. not metallic)?

Thanks. Don't know what took me so long to pick this up.

Well not sure if this helps, but the slipcover is different than the keepcase art on the case. FYI, since this topic started there have been two more editions of Total Recall that has been released. One is a Double Feature w/Terminator 2. It's two movies on one disc and contains all of the features from the Total Recall SE mentioned above. Another is the THX Total Recall DVD which is Unrated version and was released through Lions Gate.

I'll be the one to ask the stupid  of the day.

Why is the tin case referred to as the "baboon's ass" or "monkey's ass" tin?

It's just something that I've always wanted to know, but have been too afraid/ashamed to ask!

It does help, thanks!

I'm assuming then that the cover below is of the slipcover? What does the inside cover look like?

And this has the same content as the version that came with the tin, right? I'm just a bit confused as the version on the link below seems to have all the features from the tin version but has a different cover from what I posted above.

Thanks for the correction. When I was searching for Total Recall dvd info, amazon has the THX DVD listed as Not Rated. I've never heard of an alternate cut, must be another amazon slipup.

What you have posted is the slipcover. Underneath the slipcover is that same picture of Schwarzenegger w/out the pic of Mars and it says Special Edition across the top and Total Recall on the left side. That's what mine looks like. The features are the same as the tin. Hope that works for ya...

OK, I don't have Total Recall on DVD yet. I have a 1080i widecreen TV and an upscaling player; which version of this DVD is best?

if you have a hdmi connection for your tv, and you have a blu-ray player, then get total recall on Blu-ray.if you don't then, the special edition dvd version is the way to go. there is no need to get multiple copies of this film IMHO, if the advice I gives, helps you out.
