Re: Fox Collector's Edition

I just noticed A 23 on the spline of AVP - Alien Vs. Predator - The Unrated Edition that I have. And got me wondering if these where rare or are they just trying to copy Criterion with the spline number and sell more copies of their(Fox)movies?

I mean the list starts of pretty good. But I mean movies like 'Elektra and Fly II' getting Numbers. Now I'm not very interested in collecting all these tittles.

They were trying to copy Criterion, but someone came to their senses and dropped the idea, or at least we believe they did.

Rare? Ha. No, this was just Fox trying to push more product. There is nothing collect-y about this list at all.

They also discovered, just after halfway, that they didn't know how to count.

Strange that Big and That Thing You Do! slipped by un-numbered, unless they've officially stopped numbering.

Do you have that saved on your computer to whip out when you need it or did you have to go back and search for the up the last time you posted that?

It's in an old email of mine I once sent to a friend similar to you. It varies depending on the situation - in this instance, it's far too on the nose to change up too much.

Like every other studio, they simply dropped the titles and moved onto something else.

I realize that only foreign films matter and it's against the rules to like films made in the US, but I actually like some of those movies listed.

Re: Fox Collector's Edition

I think people are overreacting a little to Yakuza's comment. While I like (and own) some of those titles, overall the "collection" is a poorly conceived mishmash of films. Seriously, I Robot? Elektra? Fly 2? I think most people would agree that those movies are pretty bad.

My apologies to everyone aggrieved by my flippant remark. It was not my intention to offend delicate sensibilities. My scorn was directed at the marketing department at Fox, not you. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Humbly yours,

I, for one, enjoy flippant remarks. Especially those intended to offend.
