Do you watch all your DVDs with the best possible sound thru a receiver ?

I only watch DVDs with DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 thru my receiver-the rest are watched on my nine other dvd players(without a receiver).

Only through a receiver here. Sound is definately half the experience for me.

I watch everything with the best available audio/video. Why wouldn't you?

For first time viewing, yes I use my HDTV and DD/DTS receiver. However, for director commentary I typically will watch it on my bedroom 27" TV to put me to sleep at night. Bear in mind some commentaries work better than others

I watch them through my receiver even if they're not DD 5.1 or DTS. They still sound better through a good system even if they're mono plus it's hooked up to my 65" widescreen.

I didn't use to but since I rewired the HT I have no choice now, the player is no longer directly hooked up to the TV.

I usually turn my receiver off and just read the closed captions.

Actually no. If I'm just watching a movie yeah, but a lot of times I watch while doing crap on my computer (like right now) and then I just watch them on the TV next to my computer, which isn't hooked up to a receiver.

I have been so spoiled with my surround sound system that I can't stand to watch a movie without it.

To me sound is a very critical element of the movie experience.

Both my home dvd players run through recievers. The one in the computer room though is only ran through 2 speakers. I only watch on it old stuff while surfing on the internet and nothing else on TV.

I'm another one who has everything connected through my reciever. Two DVD players, two S-VHS recorders, LaserDisc player, CD player, cassette recorder and the TV. So, I also listen to TV broadcasts through the reciever.

The only time the sound signal isn't running through a receiver is when I'm on a plane with my portable.

I use my Logitech Z-680s (hopefully soon to be the Z-5500s as soon as I can afford them).

Yes and no. In our HT definately but, in the living room, bedroom and kitchen, the audio comes solely from the TV speakers.

Because some of us can't afford the best sound available and have to improvise.
