Value of Disney Treasures Wave 1 in the future?

Do you think the Value of the Disney Treasures Wave 1 (sealed) have peaked or do you think there is more money to be made given some time? Trying to decide if I should unload my MMILC's and SS's

thanks

I can guarantee you that the value will go up from here on out as long as they don't start selling for less.

I have a complete sealed wave 1. But I haven't bothered to put them on ebay yet.

this will most likely go up until they are re-released in a new format.

The sets that were selling at Costco without the tins made the tins depreciate in value for a while cuz ppl didn't wanna pay the extra premium for the tins. Also, Asian bootlegs are in the market as well.

Every time Disney releases a new Wave (Wave 4 comes out this December with Mickey Black and White #2, Pluto, and Mickey Mouse Club) there is a rekindling of interest in the old waves.

These Disney Treasures sets (basically every one of them) are such a fantastic product that once people have one they are far more likely to look for the other sets. Many dvd consumers have no clue these sets are even produced.

Unless and Until Disney re-releases (always a chance) on dvd, or they are put out on a new format, the price should rise or remain steady. The numbering and limited nature keeps the collectors interested.

It'd probably be best to sell them between Thanksgiving and Xmas, which is just around the corner anyway.

I'd expect Disney to continue to re-release these in various ways such as (1) without tins (as they did with the Costco boxset), or (2) in another region, either of which will have some negative impact on pricing.

Johnglad- any info from your Costco contact on whether or not there will be another 10,500 released this holiday season?

Mountain Biker- any word?

Thanks:)

Or (3) through the Disney DVD Club. They're not there anymore (Wave 2 probably still is), but they were for more than a year. That's where I got them, for $30 each. (Averaged to less, actually, because I sold 2 of the 4 off.)

Why keep them sealed? Open up and enjoy!

i sold mine when the costco boxset became available. got about $40 each for them which was the cost of the new set plus some more.

I had two extra Silly Symphonies tins. Never bought this one when it first came out, so later when some became available at Buy.com, Amazon.com, and some other place (?) I placed orders at all three, thinking they may not actually be able to ship. Well, I ended up getting all 3 of them. I finally just sold one of the 2 extras this week (for just under $50). I'll wait awhile and eventually sell the other one.

I'm a little disappointed that the value of The Little Mermaid and Lady and the Tramp has declined (probably because of the flood of bogus import copies out there). I still have an extra of each of those sealed, but they seem to be going for quite a bit less than they were a year ago.

I have the complete sets all opened up (it hurt to open MMILC).

Haven't seen or heard anything new, but if I do I'll definitely post here.

Thanks Mountain Biker!

Yep, absolutely nothing in the pipeline for Waves 1,2 or 3 between now and XMAS from what I hear. Most retailers have now made all their Christmas decisions and deals. Wave 4 is set for early December and I expect print runs similar to Wave 3 (I'd say around 200,000 per title for Wave 4).

Who knows though? The Costco sets showed up out of the blue last year when no one was expecting anything. I deal with Costco, Sams and BJs and have seen or heard nothing. I always tell people to buy them on sight if they feel they want them at all. Wave 3 will be very scarce by Christmas Day this year, and I'll bet Wave 4 moves fast during the selling season.

I have a MMILC vol 1 and a complete set of Treasures Vol 1 in the trading forum if anyone's interested. Both the single and set are unopened in tins.

I use to get them through the disney club too. The wave 1 batch was a great way to fulfill a membership for a long time. I was surprised that they lasted as long as they did given the prices on the secondary market. My disney memberships more than paid for themselves thanks to Ebay.

One of the reasons the price has come down on the sets is because all the people who bought up all they could find when the Metal Box Sets came are now selling them. When they bought all the DVD sets they drove up the price on Ebay, the price comes down when demand also goes down.

It made me sick to see all they stores in the SF Bay Area sell out within a few days, so they rest of us had to search around to find one copy. Greed and Selfishness always comes back around and bits.
