Will Halloween ever be in a box set?
Wish the companies releasing more and more box sets like Back to the Future,Star Wars,Austin Powers, and The Matrix will they ever release all the Halloween movies in a box set (also H20 and Resurrection included, but -the 3rd movie without Michael Myers) It would really help out alot instead of finding all the sets and collecting them that way...

I'm not sure, so I'll ask.
Aren't the rights to all the Halloween films all over the place. Like different studios put out certain movies and so on. Might be a reason why a box set has yet to come out. |
Yeah, I think they're all divided up between Anchor Bay (the first), Universal (the next two) and Miramax (H20 and Resurrection, for sure). I forget who owns the rights to what, but I'm sure someone else will chime in with regards to 4-6. But yeah, that's probably why you won't see it.

I believe 4, 5 and 6 are also Anchor Bay...

Halloween - Anchor Bay
Halloween 2 - Universal Halloween 3 - Universal Halloween 4 - Anchor Bay Halloween 5 - Anchor Bay Halloween 6 - Dimension Halloween H20 - Dimension Halloween Resurection - Dimension |
A Halloween box set would be pointless. As bad as some of the Nightmare on Elm St and Friday the 13th movies are, some of the Halloweens (namely 5,6, Resurrection) are incredibly bad. And a lot of them are merely ok (2,3,4) with only two movies being really good (1, H20).
Just buy the singular movies. |
I disagree Halloween has always been my favorite, Ive even seen part 3 on tv recently and it has grown on me!
But a box set will probably never happen becouse of too many studios, Id definatly like to see H2O enhanced though. |
Halloween 3 is great. I really wish they stuck with that idea of making all types of different halloween stories (slashers, witches/warlocks, whatever). Had they done that they series could go on forever instead of being run into the ground with one character.
That's not to say Michael Myers didn't deserve sequels, but they could do them in spin-offs for a new Michael Myers franchise. |
i was just asking myself this question the other day when i bought the friday the 13th box set. we'll see i guess. i did go ahead and buy halloween the anniversary 2 disc set though.

I remember back when Gene Siskel gave a good review to Halloween 3 (Thumbs up) and Roger Ebert couldn't believe it.

I'm sure they will, just as long as they dont make it as shitty and cheap as the Friday the 13th Box...
Jesus I was disappointed! I swear to god that Paramount needs to sell all of thier license's to other studio's. They cant make a decent DVD to save lives! |

But the DVD's are the same as the US ones, so who cares. Other than part 2 and 3 having a bonus commentary by a "horror expert" (um...who cares what his thoughts are if he's not at all involved in the film industry or this movie?).
The discs are exactly the same as the ones we have now, so turn that frown upside down, Charlie Brown. That's a smile , not an upside down frown. |
Dang that is a smooth cover:

Originally posted by DrGerbil I wonder to how many horror films Ebert has given 4 stars? I'd wager very few... but the original Halloween is one of them! |

i would buy Halloween as a boxset, my fav horror series. i realy do dislike 3 though.
|
I Thought I read somewhere awhile back that Anchor Bay and Dimension where going to "try and work out a deal" to release a set of DVD's in time for the release of Halloween 9.
|
3 is good movie, but not a M.Myers film.
They should of just called it Seasons of Mist and called it a film without Halloween. But I can see how they tried going the route of the mask's make people do what they do. just keep it out of the M.Myers timeline. Holla. |
DAMNIT! now i have to go out and buy this
|
"Seasons of Mist"????? Is that anything like "Season of the Witch"???? And Michael Myers or not, I LOATHE that movie.
