where the hell is "virgin spring" on dvd? (Bergman)
this was consitered the first of many of the rape/revenge movies that became popular in the 70's. i got through watching this movie last night, and was a bit surprised at how much "last house on the left" took from this movie. so when can we expect a release date and who has the current rights to the movie as well?

It's been available for a couple of years, if you can play PAL disks:

I believe Criterion has the rights to this in R1, and based on that it should be worth waiting for.

Originally posted by Rypro 525 i got through watching this movie last night, and was a bit surprised at how much "last house on the left" took from this movie. I mean, I haven't seen it yet ('Virgin', that is), but I took a class that focused partially on Craven, and the teacher made a *big* deal about how much Craven loved the Bergman movie and wanted to make his own version, which would be grittier and cheaper. It doesn't have "The Road Leads To Nowhere", does it? That would surprise me. |
I'm not waiting for the R1 release. I'm going to grab the import on my next order if at all possible.

Originally posted by wendersfan The Bergmans released by Tartan are all outstanding DVDs. You can purchase with confidence. |
Is the Tartan release still the best available option?
