My Heathers DVD is dead!?!

Bought the limited edition tin when it first came out. Watched it. Now after all that time, I plopped it into my DVD players and none of them play it. "No DVD detected" or error messages to that effect.

3 DVD-ROM drives, a 4 year old DVD player, and a 1 year old player... none can read it. No scratches, nothing.

Just wondering if anyone's had this issue and what to do about it.

Wow! I had the same thing happen to me about 6 months ago. Just got too busy and never followed up on it. Let it slip my mind. So put me in the boat of pople looking for an answer on this one.

Heathers
[Anchor Bay]
Problem: The first pressings of this title had freezing problems or difficulty playing. There has been a new pressing with it being fixed. These can be identified by looking for the "V.2" on the back of the case.
Solution: You should be able to get a replacement from Anchor Bay.

Thank you. :)

I was gonna do the searches later tonight when I got home since I'm on dial-up here, but this helps a bunch.

You should have been rewinding it everytime you watched it.

What's your damage Heather?!?!

(I must remember to check my copy soon. Haven't watched it since I bought it.)

movielib 10-01-04 03:59 PM

Almost all the first pressings went bad. I got mine replaced by Anchor Bay long ago. The replacements did not have the original artwork on the disc though.

I need to check my disc as well. Haven't watched it in a really long time. Is there any reason Anchor Bay won't still replace them? It has been a long time since it was released, after all.

TomOpus 10-01-04 05:28 PM

The replacement disc is so very

bunkaroo 10-01-04 05:57 PM

Anchor Bay still replaces them. Check their official site. I just replaced mine this year.

Rivero 10-01-04 06:50 PM

wow, so that's the problem.

I rented thr movie from Netflix and watched it just lastnight. It kept freezing and my player said "Disc is dirty", but the dic looked absolutely pristine to me. Dammit.

Mine has Winona on it. I was under the impression that all the replacement discs were like mine. Guess I was wrong.

Well, I still have the "yearbook" with the school logo.

You are lucky.

Original pressings of "Heathers," are among a number of Anchor Bay titles where entire runs of DVDs were made utilizing substandard materials, and thus prone to rot.

Others movies to keep an eye on would be "Frankenstein Created Woman" and "The Witches" (Hammer films), "Kentucky Fried Movie," and certain "Wicker Man" discs.

F**k me gently with a chainsaw! I better check my disc too.

I love my dead gay dvd! *sob*

Does anyone know where exactly to look for the V.2 on the case? Mine seems to play fine, but I can't see any indication I have the newer version.

Romerojpg 10-02-04 12:24 PM

Same thing happened with my
Maniac dvds! 2 of them!!!!!!!!!
Army of Darkness canadian L.E. of 2000! only!

basically they rotted away and looks like shit now! cannot replace them as you try getting Army of Darkness!

I am sure many more of my dvds are like this.

Should be a white sticker on the back that says version 2 or V 2.0.

You got me to check my Wicker Man. Fortunately, it's fine.

clckworang 10-02-04 03:35 PM

I now need to check my Wicker Man discs as well.

Halloween 4 + 5 Tin DVDs did it, as well as my Argento- Cat o Nine Tails DVD

my heathers did it, and they replaced it fast..

on the halloween, i found them both at Pawn Shops Super Cheap, so i bet the original Owner saw it went bad, unloaded it cheap, not realizing he could have had it replaced from Anchor bay for small postage fee,
