Fox issuing replacement discs for ANH!
Here's the number to call Fox to ask them about the replacement disc for ANH.
1-888-223-2FOX
This is not a hoax. Fox is aware of the skipping and freezing problems with ANH, and they are offering replacements discs. So call the number and let them take down your name, address, and phone number. You don't even have to send in your current disc, unless they've changed their policy in the last 12 hours.

If the audio is the same, I'm also not interested. I only got one instance of skipping and it was a random player malfunction (b/c it disappeared after restarting the player).

I'm wondering. I exchanged my set for another and don't have any problem with ANH now, but I wonder if this is some widespread problem, such that even discs that play ok now may have problems in the future or NEAR future.Or am I just being paranoid?
Or, if it's free anyway, should I just go ahead and call and get one of their 'new' discs that may be better.

I'm just gonna call. I haven't noticed any skipping errors, but I don't want to take any chances. And when I watched it with the director's commentary there was a loud *pop* somewhere in the middle. I haven't watched 'em yet without the commentary, so I don't know if there will be any problems there, but if it's free I might as well just get a new one anyway...maybe they'll fix my pop, maybe the won't, but I don't wanna find out later when I play the disc on a different player or whatever that I had a defective one all along...

Are they fixing the audio???
Lucasfilm is going to do it's best not to have to go back, remix the entire soudtrack, and repress a million or more DVDs, at a great cost. Right or wrong, that's why they're resisting. They don't want to spend the loads of money, having already spent millions on the DVD set as it is.

The Digital Bits has on their site that this voluntary recall doesnt fix sound issues b/c according to LucasFilm "their aren't any" , it just fixes a possible "skip glitch"

The issue is that the disc skips (near/at the layer change) on some players. If it doesn't skip for you, your disc doesn't need replacing. (Until, of course, THX issues an exchange based on the flipped rear channels.)

I don't think mine skips, but I called and left my info and they said "once we start sending them out we'll send your replacement discs".
I guess I have nothing to lose since it's free and I don't have to actually send anything.

No skipping or freezing on mine, so no exchange for me.
Awesome of them to take care of this for those with problems though. I didn't notice the audio problems so I don't really care about those.
