Just got Aladdin great DVD!

I just had my copy of the 2 disc DVD boxset of Disney's Aladdin delivered. It is excellent, great picture/sound, and some nice interviews with the stars/animators.

Well worth checking out order your copy now!

darkflounder 09-29-04 10:20 AM

Any deleted scenes of Jasmine in even flimsier outfits??

Just asking...

DVD Polizei 09-29-04 10:21 AM

You're excited and that's all that matters.

Deco King 09-29-04 10:25 AM

 :banana: Damn right!! I am excited!! Childish I know but I always was a sucker for the better examples of Disney animation! I can't wait until March 2005 for Bambi, and then next October's release is Cinderella!

In those days Disney really had heart not just dollar signs!!

Green Jello 09-29-04 11:32 AM

So, was it an early shipment? I see it listed as Oct 5th as the release date, yet DVD Talk lists it as 9/28 in the Coming Soon section.

Class316 09-29-04 11:33 AM

In the beginning how does the song go? Is it the "cut off your years if they don't like your face" or the censored version?

Also, is the "take off clothes" line gone?

Big Worms 09-29-04 01:41 PM

Nice! What club do you have to belong to get the early release? :)

eau 09-29-04 03:56 PM

Does it come with mail-in rebate for owners of the video?

No...its the "political correct" version...and the voice singing the 2 lines doesnīt even sound like the original one...

The other line, I dont know...where is this in the movie ? I havenīt seen Aladdin in a loooong time...

icruise 09-29-04 04:33 PM

I didn't know that the film had been altered. I hate it when they do that. What are the new lines?

DanishDVDfreak 09-29-04 04:35 PM

Original:

Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face. It's barbaric, but hey it's home

The new political correct lyrics are:

Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense, it's barbaric, but hey it's home

Btw...LOVE your sig icruise LOL

candyrocket786 09-29-04 05:55 PM

How's the Clay Aiken video?

DanishDVDfreak 09-29-04 05:56 PM

Hehe...I havenīt gotten to the extras yet, but I juuuust might skip that part :)

Skoobooz 09-29-04 05:59 PM

Was there an outer slip-cover on the version you got? With the velcro holding it shut?

DanishDVDfreak 09-29-04 06:00 PM

Yes there was...I got the Gift set btw

The "Take off your clothes line" has been edited.

I covered this (and just about everything else) in my review of the DVD:

No original opening song lyrics no sale

Nice review... and might I add that your summary of how Dreamworks treats the Disney 'formula' is spot on!

i highly doubted for a second that they were going to put the original lyrics in. i don't think any video or even laserdisc has the original lyrics.

JP5683 09-30-04 03:08 AM

Hey it lists 4 songs under 'Deleted Songs'... what happened to "Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kasim"?

They used to play this on Radio AAHS, before it became Radio Disney...

Given it wasn't SUPPOSED to be "take off clothes", what is the line supposed to have been, that we can't hear at all anymore?
