What Order to Watch The Star Wars DVD's?

I have just bought Episode 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 of the Star Wars trilogy. I watched 4,5,6 when I was young and don't remember the movies. I am asking this forum in what order should someone watch Star Wars movies.

Option 1: Episode 4,5,6 and then 1, 2

Option 2: Episode 1,2 and then 4,5,6

Option 3: Wait for Episode 3 to arrive on DVD and then
Episode 1,2,3,4,5,6

What do you guys suggest?

Zinger 09-27-04 01:21 PM

The ONLY way...option 1

Option 1

Strong agreement.

I recommend option 2. I'm doing this myself and have just finished I, II, and IV. I found that viewing them in this order makes IV an even more powerful experience; specifically, any scene with Obi-Wan just feels like it has been intensified by an order of magnitude.

Of course, I'm possibly the only person who likes episode I more than II...

Definitely Option 1. The prequels assume you've already seen the originals. Plus, there's no way you wanna make TPM the first SW flick you watch during a 5 or 6 movie marathon. Unless of course you're trying to get the worst one out of the way first. ;)

The option that involves posting this in the Star Wars Forum
;)

the only way it makes any sense to me is 5, 2, 1, 6, 4. i would suggest going that way and see for yourself, but i doubt you will find a better sequence...really gives the entire story perspective and a richness that other orders seem to squander.

Rammsteinfan 09-27-04 01:53 PM

Hey you stole my sequence... ;)

Maybe you could watch it in order of how good they are?

5, 4, 2, 6, 1

asianxcore 09-27-04 02:03 PM

watch them anyway you gosh darn please.

Scott Connors 09-27-04 02:08 PM

Toss the dvds up in the air and play them in the sequence they land. The Force has spoken!

bboisvert 09-27-04 02:10 PM

The True Order:

1, 6, Ewok Adventure, 5, 2, Holiday Special, 4, 3, Ewoks: The Battle For Endor.

Accept no substitutes.

(Or you could just go with Option 1.)

I'm actually waiting for 3 before I watch 4,5,6... haven't seen them since the sp editions in the theaters. That way I don't spoil the originals for my kids. I already have purchased them...tempting but I can wait

1977: ANH

1980: ESB

1983: ROTJ

1999: Phantom Manace

2002: AOTC

2005: ep III (Revenge of the Sith)

Rivero 09-30-04 09:38 AM

4, 5, 6. Burn 1, 2.

THX7966 10-03-04 07:47 PM

For anybody who hasn't seen them (all three of you), I would also go along with 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. Any other way would spoil the big revelation in ESB.

cactusoly 10-04-04 09:51 AM

Id go with 4,5,6, then 1,2 until Revenge of the Sith comes out. Then I'd watch them 1,2,3,4,5,6. because if you watch them in chronological order now there will be a big gap in between.

Class316 10-04-04 11:45 AM

why burn 1,2? I actually thought AOTC was awesome. Maybe even better than IV.

AOTC wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. I thought it was pretty decent, even if it was missing that *something* that made the originals great.

Better than IV? No

Characters you actually like?

II aint that bad, except for the pacing in the middle of the movie.

I would have said IV, V, VI, and don't bother with I and II but hey, burning I and II works too :)

if they had anyone in the prequels that even came CLOSE to harrison ford, they might've had something.

As ambivilent as I am towards the prequels, what I'll probably do is watch 1 and 2 on opening day, then go to the theater to see 3 and then go home and watch 4, 5 and 6.

Next year when the DVD comes out I'm throwing a big party and watching them all back to back.
